building an xc out of an mx
whats up guys. recently purchased an 09 factory built ltr.its was built by doug gusts' and josh creamers' old mechanic and 2010 pro atv mechanic of the year Joe Havel in the suzuki/yoshimura factory.it has all the frills and workings of a top level mx'r unfortunately i run woods only so i'm in the process of converting it to a woods machine. relax,i'm only doing the minimum stuff i have to to get it there.
couple questions.i was reviewing old posts about the blingstar style sprocket/rotor guards and it seemed like people were saying it could derail the chain or even rip the countershaft out if a substantial stick/rock got in there.so has this happened alot?is it really an issue? never happened to me on any machine i've had running skids or not but wanted to hear others opinions and testimonials.my only real other option is to send the swinger back to JB and have them weld on the bungs and re-pc it for 150 plus shipping.
also i was looking for a good FF skid.i liked the pro armor style with the "wings" if you will jutting out to protect various areas of importance.people were saying they didnt like them due to the fact it was a pita to change the oil.it appears from recent pictures they have solved the problem.is this so???
i have a set of beadlocks with 22's up front and 20's in the rear to mount on this thing.anything else i'm missing to transform this into a tough, reliable bark buster? thx in advance for any help.
