The wife and I recently purchased an LT80 for our 8yo daughter. While we were at the Oregon Dunes ths last weekend, we noticed about 90% of kids riding quads were wearing chest protectors. I was always under the assumption that chest protectors were for roost and mainly used on the track. Can anybody shed some light on this subject for me? Do we need to go get her one? Thanks in advance for your comments.

Well seeing how I just getting over 2 broken ribs from down there, my vote is yes. Even though they are designed to block rocks, they help distribute the energy of impact over a greater area. If I would've been wearing one, I might not have broken my ribs. Since my quads breaks were screwed up I'm going to see if my dealer will help my by a SixSixOne Jacket at cost, seeing how it cost me a week of work.

El...most definately yes. After listening to my dumb ass friends and letting my kids ride pretty much unprotected ...the first time out...I thought I was in a MASH unit...my kids were raspberries from head to toe...

NOW? You could bounce them like a basketball with all the rubber and plastic they wear...so yea get them some

Sure it gets a little hot wearing all it but it's a hell of alot better than the long ride home kicking yourself for not showing some foresight... :(

My 8yo step son wears one when he rides (by shift). Plus him and his buddy take turns wearing it when that are in make believe battles they tell me it makes them feel like a warrior lol! So it a dual purpose purchase! Plus helps greatly against slams into the bars which for some reason he does frequently. Better safe than sorry!
