Yoshi Decibles

I have on order a full Yoshi pipe. When we were out on the sand last weekend me and my buddies all got stoped and had our dp's check and my stock pipe with out the sparky and tip was at 96. Oregon db is 93 and they told me that anything over 95 they will ticket me. So I was wondering how loud the yoshi is and if they make a hush kit for it. Two extra horseys aren't worth a $175.00 ticket.

Good lord...hate to tell ya but..no-one is making a quieter pipe right now and most are over 100. Can't tell you how I know this BUT...it's the truth. That truely sucks bro :(
Crap, Im heading down to the Coos Bay/ North Bend area next week. Hope I don't run into the forestry service there! I love Oregon, where else can I be where I can see nothing but sand in all directions and my quad is pissing someone off for being to loud, lol. Bet you were at Sand Lake
Here you go. I know nothing about if it works but I saw this and figured the link would help you.

Great post!

How do they expect anyone to meet a 93 decibel limit? Out in the middle of no-where no less

Thanks that helps out alot. I plan on avoiding the cops all together. My wife is stressing now because she has an Alba exhaust on her 400 and hers was at a 102db's. I don't know why she is worried I'm the one that has to pay the ticket!!
I guess none of the guys that posted have a RS-5 pipe. They are oval, not round and they come with a sparky/quiet core. With it in, you will be quieter than the stock pipe with no sparky baffle in. Hope that is the info that just makes your day :D
Well some of the reason for the sound restrictions is anything over 96db will tear the ear drums of the animals living in the riding areas, ie. Pismo and the Snowie Plover.
Wow Irish didnt know that about the critters ear drums. Wouldn't want a deaf BigFoot running around now would we. Seriously though thats good to know.
A Ranger at Sand Lake was checking a guy with a brand new LTR with the sparky removed, so I went over for a "courtesy check" and I could tell by the look on the guys face that he was getting a fine. Nonetheless, I asked the ranger for a check and he said; and I quote "this guy was one over the limit at idle, so I suggest you find your spark arrestor before I am finished with this guy." Limit at Sand Lake is 97db, and math is not my greatest forte, but I think that puts him at 98db with the stock can and sparky out. That is at idle and I think it should get check at about 3500 rpms. I promptly returned to the rig and stuffed in my sparky, thus saving myself $175.00. Sucks for the guy getting fined, because he wasn't more that 100 yards from the parking lot...with his sparky at home. For what its worth, the ranger was pretty cool about doing checks for my two friends and after they repacked their pipes and re-checked with him (they were still over) he said "since you have put in the effort, I won't see you guys for the rest of the day". He gave some suggestions on how to reduce the sound and mentioned that the db requirement at Sand Lake would probably be lowered to 96db this year. It is currently 93db at Oregon Dunes. I think that I can fart louder than that. I finished my RS-5 install late last night, so I don't know how it compares. I'm going to the WORCS race this weekend where they have sound checks and I will report back.

I was in florence a while ago and I was on my crf250r dirtbike which has a Pro circuit TI-4 pipe and I got pulled over and my bike was a whopping 114 decibles! He gave us a warning because we told him we just moved here, which is true. In Florence the deputies drive around in the dunes in little ford rangers. You can and should avoid contact with them at all because they are good at finding reasons to pull you over. And if you have an enclosed trailer, put your bikes in it so they don't recognise you.
I race in district 34 in southern new york. This year they put a sound limit on all machines. My ltr with the full yosh exhaust after it was broken in registered at 98.5 dbs. The limit in our district is 99 dbs.
