Ok so I have the motor pulled and have a grand or so I can put into it. I alread have exhaust, intake, and a cherry bomb. So tell me your thoughts on what I should do with that $1000... Big bore, stock bore/high compression piston, port and polish head, computer controller, cams...

I'm tring to maximize the money, but I still want to keep it reliable.

Thanks for the input!!!

Bang for the buck

1. Dobeck EFI. About $140. Its not the best, but its the best CHEAPER one.
2. Port/Polish. Anywhere from 350-600. We all got prefs but if you are looking for cheep CT racing is 350
3. Piston. About 150-200. Depends on how big and if you wanna do race or pump gas.

ok, if you do dobeck, CT port, JE 13.5/1 piston you gunna be at about 650. Add about 100 bucks for shipping and misc parts = 750. Save the rest up for small lil pieces.

Although none of the above stuff are the PRIMO goodies. By loading your quad up with all that, you can have a SMOKIN ride for way under a grand. Plus you got about 250 left for smaller itmes (i.e. kill switch, nerfs, number kit...yadda yadda). Or you could go all the way and get cams add 200....

Thats it for the engine

For the rest of the quad, get started by getting it ready for a race. You need, nerfs, front and rear bumper (w/ # plate), kill switch. Thats about 500ish. The rest is really up to you but after you get the nessecaries for the track start saving for suspension.

Bang for the buck!!!!

I think the first question should really be, what do you plan on doing with the quad?

Personally I would stay away from the piston then...if the Dunes is your thing your gonna want something extremely reliable...I know most of us don't want to be wrenching on our stuff when we supposed to be out having a good time & some sweet rides...PLUS...race gas is always been a pain for me...some people don't mind but...been there done that?...

That being said I'm sure your not gonna be trying for the envelope on horse power...I know cams, porting & polishing plus the labor is gonna run you about $1200...so I would push it and get that stuff done...thats what I'm having done to my bike next...port, polish & cams...save the rest for the race track jockeys...OR

Do like LTR said..get the porting and polishing done...save up for the cams...smart thinking there...and start thinking about your suspension...the faster you go...the more suspension your gonna need...

Keep it on all fours... :D

If you were to send in the engine,
Cam,Valve springs, porting, valvejob, gaskets, cam gear installation, increase compression with stock piston, all other necassery labor,

This will be a Very dependable build.

Well if i had a $1,000 to spend i'd get a Dasa pipe, Precision stabilizer, and then i'd buy a cherry bomb and then save the rest of the money for my Xbox.
