:scoot: yeah what the title says. i just ordered the hipers but was unsure what offsets to order so i told him to hold the order until i find out what offsets i want. i'm going with 9x9 rears too. i mainly want to know about the fronts.

Don't take my word as concrete, but I BELIEVE the stock LTR rims are closest to 3:2...

3:2 may put you a hair wider than stock, but this should be fairly close to where the stock LTR rims are at

4:1 offset in the front will bring the width in thinner a bit

All depends on what type of application you are going to run and whether or not you will be switching to .5" longer mx a-arms or anything of that sort.

Would appreciate if someone could back up my 3:2 thinking, but I'm fairly certain on that?

damn it....i called like 15min ago and he already shipped them out. i ended up with the 3+2 and 4+5. he said that the front will be a hair wider and the back will be the same outer width but since i'm going with a wider tire the actual track (center of tire to center of tire) will be a hair narrower. oh well. if i don't like the 3+2's i'll just sell them and get the 4+1's.

Did you tell him to order the 3+2 or did he just go ahead and do it after you said hold the order?

no i originally told him 4+1 then he called back and told me that stock was 3+2 and the 4+1 would make it narrower and that the 3+2 would be closer to stock. so i told him 3+2 unless he hears back from me soon. unfortunately i waited too long and the ups man had already come by for the final pickup of the day.

after thinking about it if i don't like them i'll use them on my beater 300ex to make it a little wider up front since both rims on that old bike are all taco'd up anyway plus it could use an extra inch or so of width. then i'll just order a new set of 4+1's for the ltr.

Ohh okay...I'd still call and try to get a discount but hey...I'm cheap :p

I think you should be okay with the 3+2, it will change the handling a bit but you may like it. Let us know what you think when they come in, hipers generally have a huge market - if you REALLY don't like them I'd guess selling them wouldn't be terribly hard, my guess is you'll be fine

thanks and i'll update you guys once they're all mounted up and i've given them a test ride or two. probably won't be for at least a couple weeks until i save up enough for tires. does anyone know how hard it is to mount tires on the hipers?? can i do it myself with a tire iron or do i need a bead breaker/tire mounting machine.

ps. sorry about making another thread here in general sect. but i wanted answers quick and the tire/wheel forum doesn't seem to get much traffic. if you want you can move it over there now or whatever so people can find this thread in the future in case they have the same question.

I'm running 3-2's on my ltr right now. There is a little more wheel feedback or bump steer but it's not horrible. The extra width isn't even noticable but I already had the wheels so I just used them b/c they are stronger than stockers

I went with a 3-2. If there is a difference in handling, I could not notice it. I did not want to go narrower.

For what its worth the front rims are the same as the LTZ and are 4+1.5 so take your pick as to whether you want the front a little wider (3+2) or narrower (4+1) than stock ?

Before you go selling those things I would think about getting a Precision dampner from FuelATV...it will take up that feedback and more...and even if you do sell them and get the others you will still notice a HUGE difference in your handling...

It's just about the only thing I think I have on the bike that is worth MORE than what I paid for it...truley a worthwhile investment :D

I went w/ 4+1 and a Maxxis Razr mx tire and it made a huge difference in the corners. It really rails now. No bump steer or no more push.

I got the 4:1 fronts and I like them, I can't tell a difference in the width - but it measures 47" wide.
It handles the same if not better with 20/18 Holeshot SXs, because now it doesn't push like it used to.

all i have to say is matt at highland is the friggen man :fro: . I ordered the hipers on thursday and they were already here waiting for me when i got home from work earlier tonight (monday). i couldn't believe how light the box was, I was like "no way in hell is there all four wheels in here". they are definitely light as hell, the shipping weight on the box is 28lbs for all four. thats less than 7lbs per wheel once you figure in the box and packing paper. the wheels looks sick, can't wait for my tires to get here on thursday. :banadance:
