Well, as I stated earlier the kids are very into riding now and 90% of my riding is with them and the wife; I wanted to get a more meaty mid-range for those brief vrooms I get...

Previous Build: Blue
1) 2005 TRX 450R
2) HRC Kit (Cam and breather T)
3) VCP 12.25:1 HH Piston
4) Boone Head, with +1 mm Ex valves, KW springs
5) Dyna FS Ignition (curve 1)
6) Factory air box, Sparks ring, UNI filter, no lid
7) RW pipe
8) 43mm FCR (DASA bored)
9) Dumonde Tech oils
10) 91 Octane pump gas

Current Build: Red
1) 2005 TRX 450R
2) Hot Cams Stage II
3) VCP 12.25:1 HH Piston
4) Boone Head, with +1 mm Ex valves, KW springs
5) Dyna FS Ignition (curve 1)
6) Fuel Customs Intake
7) DASA pipe
8) 43mm FCR (DASA bored)
9) Rotella 15W40
10) 91 Octane pump gas

Here you go...

And the AF...looks a little fat on bottom, but they had it on there for 2 hours! 230MJ, DJ needle on 9th clip and 2 washers under the needle!

Now to the LTR...
Previous Build: Red
1) 2006 Suzuki LTR450
2) Factory Exhaust (Baffle Removed)
3) Factory Intake and filter (lid removed)
4) Yoshimura CRBM installed (Cherry Bomb)
5) 91 Octane pump gas

Current Build: Blue
1) 2006 Suzuki LTR450
2) DASA Exhaust
3) Trinity Intake w/ K&N+Outerwears (hole lot of box trimming too)
4) Yoshimura PIMM
5) 91 Octane pump gas

And finally the run conditions...you can see the earlier runs were in much better weather...I know, DJ Dynos are supposed to account for this...I still say the TRX would post better numbers if the temps were back in the 70's with lower humidity...but anyway...

And finally the Predator 90!
Stock they make about 4 HP...
Current Build:
Hetrick Racing Pipe
Hetrick Racing CDI
Hetrick Racing - Racing Clutch
Hetrick Racing 20mm Carb w/UNI

Very nice. Makes it nice to see them stacked on top of each other. I made over 100 pulls on my predator.
the old red trx450 looks like a better dyno curve to me... especially in the mid...

did you get them backwards?
I'm lost when looking at dyno's
Are you still running the auto lube on the Pred as we have two stock ones for my daughters and was just wondering ?

LOL! Nope, not backwards! But, consider this, I have more $$ in the carb and pipe alone on the TRX then I do in the LTR performance upgrades! Bodes well for the LTR! Look at the list of mods on the Honda and to think it is not that much on top of the Suzi!

Well, what you are looking at on the LTR graph is the Red lines which was the factory exhaust minus SA, lid removed and CB...compare it to the Blue lines which is the DASA Ex, Trinity intake (cut airbox), and PIMM. Do not just look at the peak numbers written as max values on the graph...look at the lines. Compare the upper 2 lines which are HP and the lower 2 lines which are Torque.

Questions for Blaster Racer only (referring to the LTR graph):
At 7800 RPM how much more HP is the new build making?
How do the torque graphs compare?
What can you extrapolate from these graphs as to how the riding will differ with the new mods?

What is different about the Pred 90 graph vs all the others? Besides much less HP and TQ...

No! After to talking with several folks regarding the minis we decided to remove it and premix the fuel. I was told over and over the oil injection WILL fail (pump lockup) and it will trash the motor...then I guess several folks rebuild the piston/cylinder only to have it happen again because they did not realize it was the pump as the culprit. Just figured better to be safe then sorry.

That Pred is really pretty amazing...figure a 50% increase in HP over stock!

Do you know what happens if the engine mods are done without doing the 'clutch' mods on the Pred please ?

Yepp, Nothing!

The guys that own SandTrax do a lot with the minis and according to them mod the clutch before you mod anything. They have seen bikes in with ported cylinders, pipes, cdi's, and no clutch mods make the same HP as bone stock!

In all the mini circles the clutch appears to be the real key...I sure hope ours can pull a few more hills in the dunes! Let you know...

shoooot that lil thing aught to shoot buttercup pretty easy :scoot:

numbers look great on all 3 bikes!
Rob,

That is really wierd. With the STG2 HC, I was expecting a meatier midrange and a little loss on top. You found just the opposite! I'm sure the intake and pipe change are accounting for some/most of this, but that makes me wonder about the dyno's consistancy......... IMO.

None the less, GREAT RUNS! It is cool to see the REAL gains. Thanks for sharing.

Also, did that FCI make that bike THIRSTY or what?

ERR... WAIT! Maybe you have a mistake on your colors. What you said and the dyno sheet mismatch. If what is on the dyno sheet is right, then that makes sense. The STG2 signed off way early. Plus the RW pipe is maybe just a touch more of a top end oriented pipe?

Yup, he got the colors backwards (he did the same thing over on another site  )

The differences in those two curves are pretty consistent when comparing the HC S2 to the HRC with no other changes. So I'd say the DASA and RW are pulling fairly similar curves, maybe a slight advantage in the 5k-6k range with the DASA.
Good info! I wish this topic was posted sooner. I spent a but load of money on my boys LT80 getting a pipe, carb, filter, reeds, gearing and oil injection block off. Nothing on the clutch. I took him out expecting a huge difference. Nothing, with his paddles he actually had to rock his quad to get it even moving. Thought I might have screwed it up somehow. How much did your clutch kit or work cost?

Yep, I had the colors wrong...sorry, I edited the information above!

Clutch was $265...plus rollers...figure on $300 and Kevlar belt is $47.

The new racing clutch is vented...has louvers cut in the outer bell to aid in cooling. It is my understanding the torsion spring will heat up...as a spring heats it looses its tension. Apparently dune riders suffer even more from this due to the temps on the dunes and the sand temps (added radiant heat). The vents aid in cooling the clutch and helping the torsion spring maintain its rated tension...plus, it is considerably lighter.

Call up Hetrick Racing or any of the mini parts dealers and talk with them...I ordered our stuff from Hetrick.

Also, removing the oil injection makes a BIG difference on the pressure required to actuate the throttle!!! In the past Abbey would have to stop because her thumb was sore (similiar to our buddies with YFZ's) but not now!!! If you look at the Preds/Kaseas when you push the throttle you are opening the slide on the carb and another cable to the oil injection opening it...and it has a strong spring!

Thanks OKTRX450R that stuff makes alot of sense and I feel like a dumb @$$ for not getting the clutch done as well. Hopfully my boys LT will rip when I get it done.
