Your bike will blow up with that much heat without a larger cooling system.

Trinity Racing can immediately send you a new OEM Yamaha cylinder overbored for the 493cc piston[/b]
Personally I wouldn't let anything that said Yamaha on it near an LTR ;)

Kit looks promising...thanks for keeping an eye out

OK...called Trinity and asked about any cooling problems. None...they had the guys from ATV Scene ride it all day and then after they left the boys jumped on it a flogged it as much as they could. Big boys...250 lbs and such...no over flowing...no over heating..nada...Then they took it back to the factory and flogged on it some more on the dyno...just to be certain....still no over heating problems...

So no need for a over sized radiator unless you want to do it just for the sake of saying you have one... :p

Dude...I watched them beat on it...I was there at Glamis that day...it was warm and they were ON it...the whole time :D

But I understand your skepticism...I just made the call to DJ...he's always been totally honest with me...even through the whole CRBM & Fuel Module thing which they didn't have to do

Just my $.02 :D

Big bores are a waste of money... and just asking for problems and headaches.

It depends on the head and the type of bigbore. If the head can handle it there's no problem. Also if you bore rather than put in a steel sleeve you're better off (different metals expand and different rates). I have had absolutely NO PROBLEMS with my Lukes Racing 450 bigbore kit in my Z and I'm running a high compression piston in it and running most of the time at WOT.

I really haven't looked at the LTR head but if it's got enough material in it and the water jackets are big enough there should be no problem going up to the 500 range if done properly.

Al...funny you should say that...I was talking to Trinity on Friday after my shakedown run with the open air box and I specifically asked that question. DJ informed me that Suzuki did a fantastic job of designing plenty of material into that head so when they bore it? No problems whatsoever. He seemed pretty impressed and they have had that head apart a couple of times now since they introduced it...
For anyone thats interested? They have the heads on the shelf for an exchange program...you order the kit...they send it...you send your head back after your done...nice and easy :D

Good to hear. That's exactly what I did with the Z400 and may do with the LTR after a couple of years. :D
