Doing my first oil change last night and can't get the drain plug out! It just loosened then it just turns without backing out. WHAT DO I DO??? Can you re-tap the plastic tank? Can I yank the thing out and hope for the best?

any help appreciated...

I would bring it to the dealer and tell them its leaking oil. I would hold back in telling them you tried to change the oil. If you feel uncomfortable with than then order a new oil tank.

I stripped the drain bolt on my z 400 and did the heli coil fix. Stainless steel heli coil. Was told by a service mechanic "expert" not to use loctite on aluminum threads, the z 400 has an aluminum oil tank,-He guessed thats how I stripped it out because I had been using loctite after each oil change. I'm usually pretty careful when torqueing up bolts so maybe he is right

The problem with bolts these days is most of them are soft metal, why don't they just use plain old hard steel, so what if it adds a couple more ounces of weight, atleast they won't strip.

So the threads on the bolt strips before the threads in the hole does. Much cheaper to replace a bolt than the part it's screwing into.
