I am going to use the on/off switch wires for my tether, I did this on my 250r. It's fairly simple and all the factory wiring. How come most of you guys are using the coil,stator,rollover switch setup?
(I'm getting rid of crap on bars)

I know this has been addressed before, but it was awhile back. If you don't know most of the kill switches are N/O switches. Works great on older quads, will work on ltr but the computer is highly sensitve and everytime you pull the tether you are sending an electric shock to it. I bought the proarmor, looks great works awesome but is N/O, my fault for not checking it out first. Best way to put in a tether is buy a N/C switch. I din't buy this one, but the pingal is a 2 wire tether that is N/C and is the easiest to put on. Take the two wires from the tether and splice them into your orange and orange/white wires that went to the on/off switch. Tie clutch wires together and your done.

That could very well be the first time someone has answered their own post in such a well informed way.

My first post was pre tether. Then I went to put her on and realized I didn't like the whole N/O switch, oh well trial and error. :scoot: Gotta make the quad last.

Cut the orange and orange/white wires(on/off switch wires) splice them into 2 of the wires on the kill switch. [/b]
Two wires on the kill switch?

Ground the last wire on switch to this point and bolt bracket back on.
[/b]
What last wire? Does the Gunnar have 3 wires on it instead of 2 like a traditional kill?

Maybe just a typo or maybe the Gunnar has 3 wires...just clarifying. Thanks!

:fro: Iam suprised that no one mentioned the article in Dirt wheels were they reviewed the LTR and decided to install the 2 tether wires, as follows: one to the red wire coming out of the roll over kill box , and the other to ground. Well I just got my e-mail from Pro Armor that there install kit plug & play for the proarmor kill switch is shipping. I ordered both came to $52.00plus 7.00 shipping .

I seen that. But you are still grounding her out to shut off the quad as opposed to just stopping the voltage feed.

I have sent some information off to Gabe and Brad...Gabe is an electronics super freak and Brad works for Dyna Tech to get an answer on the wiring issues with a pro armor style kill (N/O).

I know this same exact issue was disussed on the TRX450R and many had the same opinion of the N/O switches...Brad/Gabe explained to everyone where to connect to on the CDI to avoid any potential damage. They are looking at the wiring diagrams for the LTR now and preliminary information is you can connect a N/O switch up without any damage...keep you all posted.

I had issues with the ground and a N/O kill switch on my LTR.. I have since switched to a N/C Pingel #640 and it works fantastic! The Pingel was MUCH easier to install since the wires you need are right there in front of you. The N/O one I had to splice and setup a ground etc etc, pain in the ass.. Plus as it has been mentioned, not ideal for EFI systems...

Allright I got my Proarmor Kill & Install Kit . This is what I did!
***Note this worked for me . Do at your own Risk!***

Lay out is sentence followed by illustration. Enjoy!

I removed Light assembly screw " to better track my wires later"
[attachmentid=1443][attachmentid=1444]

Be carefull with the bulb!
[attachmentid=1441]

Installed the Kill switch, It brings this sleeve adapter for the skinny stock bars.
[attachmentid=1445]

Removed 3 black push pins for side air duct to come off.
[attachmentid=1442]

These are the Bolts for the coil on the right side of the quad if you are sitting on it.
[attachmentid=1420] [attachmentid=1421]

Fish both black wires down thru the center factory cable holder
[attachmentid=1425]

Run the longest black wire of the 2 along side the frame under the tank.
[attachmentid=1423]

Crimple the male blue connector on. This helps!
[attachmentid=1424]

This will connect with the red lead on the harness.
[attachmentid=1422]

Disconnect the blue plug on the coil and bridge connect your white harness.
[attachmentid=1426]

The shortest black wire from my kill was fished out in front of my radiator
[attachmentid=1427]

Crimpple the female connector on to this short black wire. It will later plug onto the red Ground wire supplied by Pro armor
[attachmentid=1429]

I used this dremmel
[attachmentid=1430]

Took off the 2 top bolts on my front bumper
Scraped off the paint, for a solid ground affect
[attachmentid=1431]

Also had to eat away on the inside of that red fish eye connector in order to get the bumper bolt thru.
[attachmentid=1432]

Plugged the red ground to the short black i ran up front
[attachmentid=1433]

Sandwiched the red fish eye between the scrapped frame & the bumper
[attachmentid=1434]

Bolted the bumper UP!
[attachmentid=1435]

Bolt the CDI back-up
[attachmentid=1436]

and :scoot: TEST THE KILL
It worked for me!
[attachmentid=1437]

Assemble back up and your done.

I did zip tie the front ground connector,
[attachmentid=1439]

Also zipped the 2main kill wires to the throttle cable,
But remember to turn the wheel for maximum cable pull befor you zip tie !
[attachmentid=1438]

I used black tape on this connector,did not have heat shrink.
[attachmentid=1440]

DONE!
