I currently have a UM Swing-arm skidplate and I am a little disappointed with the construction of it. I bent the plate and the bolts the first day out. It did it's job by protecting my swing-arm and sprocket, but I didn't hit the rock that hard at all. The stock composite one on my Polaris Predator took more abuse than this one did and it stayed in pretty good shape. I was wondering what you guys think and if you could provide any info about other manufacturer's quality and craftsmanship. Thanks a lot.

I'd say Pro Armor and PRM have the best products for your quad.

Can anyone take some pics of their actual skidplates so I can see what they look like? I appreciate it.

By the way, I am pretty stoked, my wife and I just bought our first house. :D

Heres some high quality advice from another post about skidplates on this site. (Just in case you missed it the first time)
Who needs skid plates anyways - "Nothing a little tap with the axe can't fix." ;)

Seriously though, I think the Pro Armors are excellent. However, since they are on backorder to December through Parts Canada I may try ordering the PRM plates. I just hate how they use hose clamps as fasteners  , what do you guys think?

the prm swingarm skid is the best you can get. big friggen deal it uses two hose clamps up front. its either that or drill into the swingarm and put in a helicoil for new mounting bolts up front. i'll take the hose clamp rather than f-ing up my swingarm with some cheesy skid that'll bend over the first rock it hits.

Take it easy RCwhat :D , I take it you bought the PRM.

It seems that everyone who has them is very happy. The only two concerns appear to be the hose clamps, and the removal of the stock chain guide.
From what I hear the hose clamps seem to hold up well. In order to cover the linkage I guess the hose clamps are needed, since there are no mounting bolts up that high. It's just to bad PRM couldn't have used some nicer clamps (those hose clamps just look plain cheap :( ).
From the picture of the Pro Armor plate it looks like the chain guide was also removed. So if you want some decent skid protection you may have to lose the stock chain guide.

After reviewing the posts about the Pro Armor and PRM skids they both seem to be very good products. I guess I will probably buy what every I can get shipped to me the soonest.

yeah i have the prm rear skid but have the pro armor frame/engine skid. luckily i was able to somewhat look at all the available options and i believe in my opinion that the best rear skid out is the prm. The hose clamps are kind of a non-issue and really aren't noticeable unless your really checking out the rear shock area up really close. and i think the best frame/engine skid out is the pro-armor. I like the j-clamps on the frame where the whole skid can be put on and removed in less than a minute if you're good. I didn't really care for prm's sandwich plate mounting on their engine skid.
just my $.02
