i just read in the august QUAD magazine. they said it'll be 3/4 the size of the r450 and will house a modded rmz250 engine. what do you guys think about them replacing the legendary 2-stroke's name with a new 4-stroke?

yeah they had a point that, like in motocross, to have a 450 AND a 250cc class and i agree 100% with them. im really looking forward to see where this all goes. oh and theres gonna be a new 450 kingquad as well comming out this winter. things are looking good for suzuki if they can deliver in the end.

Those new hi-tech 250cc motors scream. Crazy rev limits like 13k. If they really are fully tuned dirt bike engines, fully built thet can hit mid 30's HP....that is pretty serious power for 250cc 4 stroke displacement

I love 250Fs engines. They rip, and they're light. Looks like Joel Hetrick will have a new class to look forward too!

We should have had this class now for years. I can only hope that the rumors are true.[/b]
Exactly, it should have happend soon after the 250f's were brought out, but everything takes development time I guess.

Will also be interesting to see a 125cc/150cc 4-stroke come out to compete with the 85cc two stroke class. Our two-wheeled counterparts have been waiting for that to become reality as long as we've been waiting for 250f powered quads.

lol i just wish the z250 my parents bought me while i was in california 3 years ago was this rumored racer. and it says in the article that it'll be 3/4 the size of its big brother, do you think it means hp? ok so the 450 will push around 33 or so, does that mean around 22-24 for the 250? thats like having a z400 in smaller, lighter chassis!! and does that also mean it'll weigh 3/4 the amount of the 450? so around 270-275 lbs!! well no one can be sure what they mean will be 3/4 the size, lets just hope its not the width or ground clearance.

just a quick question, whats the range in hp do the current 250 4-stroker dirtbike engines push?
[/b]

The only thing i know is on the cover of transworld motocross a few months back said a factory KX250F was putting down 44 ponies.
now factory bikes are completly diffrent than a stocker I would guess high 20s maybe 30 but I could be way off. dirt bikes come uncorked from the factory so they have higher numbers than the quads.
My brother has a 250F bike and that thing rips, I would almost be scared to throw a leg over a 450F.

a question I would like to know is if it will have EFI.

good question, and would make sense since quad technology is getting more advanced as the years progress. this is the first news about this no one knows. but im keepin my fingers crossed as well ;)

Well what they should do is make the LT-R250 for the youth production class so Honda will have some competition. All i see at the nationals is 300ex's for the youth prod. And if a company would make a race ready quad fit for under 16 riders then Suzuki would be kickin A$$ in the Youth class. Plus who knows if Yamaha has a YFZ250 in the works?
