Has anyone tried to modify the stock spark arrestor yet. I've seen in other threads that a few different guys have put screening on the inside of the end cap. It looks good, but I don't know how well it would function. I was thinking of maybe cutting out the outlet to make it bigger. If the outlet size was increased to the diameter of the spark arrestor (rather than that small tube), I would think it would still function properly and increase performance.
I would try it if I had an extra one kickin' around.

its just about as loud as the whole thing pulled, but has the spark arrestor so you can ride where it is required to have one.

Did you just make the hole larger where the exhaust exits. Since you said you used a welder, I'm thinking you probably did more.

Definitley opens it up some more, has the sound of a pipe now.

It does the trick until i can order a dasa :scoot:

Thanks for the photos. I want to run the CRBM, baffle out, and lid off setup all the time; however, I know there will be times when I need a Spark Arrestor. By cutting out the outlet, I'm sure you'll free up quite a bit of air flow. Although, do you think shortening the length of the screening helped any? I'm not sure if that would help.

Thanks again :scoot:

look at the difference in photos its not cut shorter for anyother reason than to remove the internal baffle. you cut out the middle section completely to remove it. after that its wide open, no restriction.

I removed my stock baffle and installed a sink strainer behind the end cap. It has a cone shape, and when the screws for the end cap are tightened, it fits really well. I bought it from the dollar store, and actually got two of them for .99 cents. I don't know if it serves any function as a spark arrestor, but you can see the screen if a DNR officer were to look at it.

that was my plan b but luckly the welds held and it worked out great. your method should work just as well. the spark arestor is just like a sink strainer in a way.

:fro: I was thinking of just cutting out around the pea-shooter, as far out in diameter as I can go,this way i would not have to weld or replace sparky w/ a screen. Will the max air flow be achieved. for my lid--off & chip to run ok?

Then I would weld on a tail piece about 2 inches long just like on the LRD pipes...hmf ect .

will the tail pipe lower the db count.................
