There's no master link in the stock chain.
What technique are you guys using to remove the stock chain in order to swap from sprockets?

The front, you are able to pull the sprocket off the counter shaft and roll it above the chain guide and do the opposite to put the other one on.

Loosen the 4 pinch bolts around the carrier...rotate carrier toward engine...plenty of slack in chain for sprocket switch...once sprockets switched rotate carrier toward back to achieve proper chain slack re-tighten pinch bolts... ;)

there's no need to remove the chain to change sprockets on just about every atv/mc.....

You have to take the chain off the sprocket to remove the sprocket - c'mon man.

Kwad,

No need to remove the chain first. I just did it. First loosen your chain as loose as you can get it. Once it's loose the sprocket will slide off with the chain on it. Then move the sprocket to the top and run it to the rear above the cross member and it will come right out. The 13 tooth will go in just by sliding it in the chain.

no, you don't. as long as you loosen the rear bearing carrier mount and get a good amount of slack in the chain the front sprocket will slide right off then just take it off the chain. Or you could always take the rear sprocket bolts out and you'll be able to take the chain off the rear and front sprockets. the only time you'll ever need to break the chain is to remove it for a new one.
