Just happened! I spun around in some grass and it died. now won't start. it cranked a little but never seemed to really fire. the starter is making a whining like sound as if it didn't have any gears on it. now it also acts like the battery is dead, witch it probly is from trying to get it going. Any ideas before i take it in? I really don't want to put all my stock stuff back on to take it in.

No need to put your stock stuff if it's either the starter or the battery. By law they can't deny warranty repairs to a part that is defective as long as they cannot prove that an aftermarket part caused the failure.

With that said. I'd charge the battery overnight and try it in the morning and see what happens.

Well i finally got mine working and it was becuase two prong like hooks in the starter weren't touching and they needed to be tached together. MY dad will be taking the starter apart again to permanently connect those prongs, so I'll get some pics and so other guys with this problem will know what to do.

Thats good that your fixes were easy ones...on My Suzuki, it was a little more complicated.

On my second ride I was at Glamis, riding at night and the quad was really hesitating to start...It would crank and not start.
Eventually that night it wouldn't start anymore...all I would get was a click...we thought the relay might've gone bad...so I ended up taking it to the dealer and they had it for a month.
They verified that the starter was bad, but they were communicating back and forth with suzuki to determine the cause of the problem...It turned out to be a Cam problem which they replaced all under the warranty.
THat was cool...too bad know I have it back in the dealer for a clutch problem, which they don't want to cover!

I think I also have a problem with the decompression cam. It starts right up when cool, but after I've been riding and stop for a short break, the engine tries to crank over and then stops. It sometimes helps if I crack the throttle open a bit, but a couple times I've had to wait for it to cool down.

Has anybody replaced the decompression mechanism and fixed this problem or do you need to replace the whole cam? Or better yet do webcams come with a whole new cam and decompression mechanism?
