Are the Skat Trak Gliders any good? I was going to get the 20x10x8 6 cup, but didnt no if they were any good. I no everyone talks about the haulers and extremes, but I looked them up in Rocky Mountain and they didnt even list a 6 cup, plus the price wasnt that bad on the gliders. I just got back from Little Sahara I started off running a set of my buddys Aerospeeds 20x11x10 they were a good tire hooked up real good just didnt slide very well, so I went and got the 20x11x8 Sidewinders they got me around pretty good just didn't hook up very good coming out of the hole. Well I'm going back in a couple weeks so I am going to put the Sidewinders on my z400 and was trying to get some new tires for the Ltr. Oh yeah, I think the Aerospeeds might have been rubbing just barely, because I didn't notice until I washed the quad that there was small black marks on my nerf bars, probably from when I jumped, and I know the Sidewinders cleared. The Pro Armor nerfs doesn't allow for very tall tires I think 20's would be the tallest I could go, but then again both tires I ran were 20's and one rubbed. I think the Aerospeeds rubbed, because of the 10" rim, or maybe it was because the side winders are offset with the v shape I don't know could someone please answer this? Sorry for such a long post I'm just new to this sand stuff.

I had those 20*10*8 6 paddle gliders. Those don't hook up of the hole fast. If you want to be fast in drag you should get haulers or extremes (6 paddle), here in glamis those are the one that seem to be faster. 6 paddle gilders are really fun to dune cruise cause their really easy to slide, and once you got a little momentum they have good grip + they dont bog you down. kinda like having knobbies with more traction.

IMO go with haulers or extremes

which lil sahara are you talking about?

if its Oklahoma, you will kill those gliders on the pavement. The gliders most are running on here are the 9 paddle version.

If you want to slide and get great foward traction with gliders....... you're gonna need more paddles for sure.

My 21x12x8 7 paddle haulers really don't slide well at all. However, the 21x12x8 6 paddle padla brats did slide pretty well and are very predictable AND they are easily the fastest tire on the drags and climbs. But neither of those tires are as cheap as the gliders.

Thanks guys for all the info I have read almost every topic in this place. I try to read all of them so I dont miss anything. Yes, I am talking about Oklahoma it was my first time it was a blast thats why I am going back in a couple weeks. I have just the basic mods so the 9 cup glider might work, but would rather just go ahead and spend the money on the one's that perform the best. My problem was when I looked the brats/haulers/extreme up in Rocky Mountain they didn't list a 6 paddle only 8's, and I couldn't find the brats on there, and I cant remember if they sold them there at LS. Another question I have is if I do go with brats/haulers/extreme I dont no whether to go with the 20" or the 21", because the 21" might be to tall for them to fit with my Pro Armor nerf bars? I quess my best bet would be to buy them there so I will no if they fit or not. I also would like to know if 10",11"or 12" wide would be better? It seems like you guys said the wider the better. Oh yeah when I bought the Sidewinder down there I was debating whether to get the 8" or 10" rim and I asked them what the difference was, just to see what they said, and they told me just that the 10" looks better. Its funny though the 10"rim is more expensive, and at first I asked them what tire would work the best out there, and they said Sand Stars. I remembered do not buy Sand Stars so I said whats the next best tire out there to use and they said Sidewinders thats why I went with them. This is why if I do buy from down there that I want to know exactly what I want. Thanks again for everyones help

10" wheels weigh more...slide easier...do not accelerate as fast...and IMO have a rougher ride.
8" wheels are lighter...do not slide as well...accelerate faster...IMO have a smoother ride...regarded by many to not "handle" as good.

Just like everyone else stated 6 paddle gilders are not enough paddle...go 9 or 10.

Several folks comp cut Brats but Fullerton is all I have ever dealt with and I would recommend purchasing from him...

RMATV does not carry Brats and they only carry limited Skat Trak tires. The tires they do carry are the most popular sizes based on sales volumes...and the old 2 stroke thinking.

If you want skats give Jims Sand Toys a call in Waynoka...

IMO the BEST setup for draging is the 6 paddle comp cut Brats and the BEST setup for the dunes is the Sand Skate I comp cut.

OKTRX450R is Fullertons in Waynoka? I dont remember what shop I was in. It was the second campsite from Waynoka, and the first one when you pull in. There was another one on the way in to the sand, and then there was one at the first campsite. Which one would be the best to go to? Which one was Jim's?
Thanks again

Fullerton Sand Sports 8322-A Standustrial
Stanton, CA 90680 (714) 898-2049

Jim's Sand Toys Hwy 281 South
Waynoka, OK 73860 (580) 824-2021 (580) 824-5018

Little Sahara Powersports (LSPS) has a store in the south campground, a store in their private campground and in the north campground...so I would guess you were in one of their stores...all the same people. I am sure LSPS did not recommend Skat Trak because they no longer carry them...just the rumor mill but Jim's is one of the largest Skat Trak dealers and LSPS bought tires from him...they had a falling out so LSPS does not have access to Skat Trak anymore.

Do you know where the Ampride is on the Highway (Hwy 281) that runs through town? Go about 2 blocks North of the Ampride and Jims will be on the right side of the hwy.

Jim's is also a dealer for Sand Tires Unlimited (the people that make the Brats) but I have never seen any in his shop...also, STU does not comp cut the tires the dealers do. I would trust Fullerton MORE to comp cut them. Also, Jim is a big 2 stroke guy...so, he is going to try to sell you some 10 or 12 paddle haulers NOT what a 4 stroke needs. Just be patient and say this is what I want...he probably will not stock it but suprisingly enough he seems to get his order faster then Fullerton does from Skat Trak.

Thanks for all the info. I'll probabaly just go to Jims.

Since you're running heel guards, I'd suggest no taller than a 65/66 in. roll out. My 67 roll outs rubbed Alan's heel guards. <_<

And I'd call them before you get there to know for sure if they've got some or if they can get some in stock.

Aren't the Brats a smaller paddle like the Gliders? If so, would a 6 paddle or a 9 paddle be better on a 50 hp + quad? I know that with the Gliders, 6 paddles is not enough and 9 or 10 would be much better.

Comp cut brats paddles are taller then play cut...but both versions taller then a glider.

My TRX is in the 50 range and I have 6 paddle comp cut brats and 9 paddle play cut brats...it likes the 6 paddle comps much better!

If you are shooting for durability and duning the 9 paddle play cut Brats are a good choice and about $20 cheaper then a similiarly configured Glider.

As most of you know i have a set of bead to bead buff 9 cup glidders and a set of bead to bead buff 6 cup haulers. Both are 20x10x8 and mounted on stock LTR rims but the 9 cup glidders have less roll out. Well i had the 9 cup glidderss on the LTR and they worked great with just the pipe and cherry bomb. I think these are great all around tires, but not enough hook up for shooting the hill if you have more mods then a pipe. With the new engine work the LTR spins these tires off very hard. So i mounted the 6 cup haulers on the LTR and wow what a difference. The 6 cup is just right. It hooks up hard out of the hole and slides perfect. The 9 cups went on the 350PV. That bike with the 6 cup haulers would get it done ..... Now with the 9 cups .... same story ..... SPIN CITY out of the hole. So now i will be selling the 9 cup glidders. I highly recommend these tires to anyone with the basic mods. They are fast on the top end and slide at will, but with cams, porting , ect. they dont have enough hole shot hook up. I love the glidders and someone will be very happy with them. I will be buying a set of comp cut 6 cup brats and doing a shoot out with those aginst the 6 cup haulers.

Selling eh. Well....I was dune devirginized this last weekend. Can you believe I have lived in SoCal all of my 34 years and had never ventured to the dunes. That is some fun stuff, but I think I was the only goon out there that didn't have paddles. :pointlaugh: I know I won't make Glamis my prime riding area (I still prefer the trails), but I know I'll be going back :D . I need paddles, actually 3 sets to make the family happy, some for a raptor,KFX 700 and my LTR. I just need something to get the job done and have fun at a reasonable price. So...with that said, it seems a lot of you have bought tires that you aren't all that satisfied with and might need to unload to offset the cost of your new ones. I suppose I should put this in the ForSale/ Wanted topic, but fuel piqued my interest when he mentioned selling his tires.
