i talked to the guy at works performance again today to find out how long my shocks will take for the revalve and new springs and everything and he said he wasnt for sure but he thought the rear spring was sprung around 460lbs per in. and the average is around 350lbs per in and the yfz is like 200 lbs per in which just goes to show how stiff this rear shock really is !! he was extremely surprised it was that stiff ! i cant wait to get my shocks back from them once they are revalved and new springs it will be great! just thought you guys might want to know that bit of info .

There is somthing wrong with that shock then  Mine is pretty soft. I weigh 130 and i can just push down on the grab bar, not with very much effort, and compress the rear end about 1/2 to 3/4 of the way. Mine works great for me. The fronts are a little stiff but not that big of a deal.

yeah it will but try to get it to go further its hard as a rock notice the springs get closer together at the end. i dont know dont get mad at me im just repeating the info i got from works performance!! so maybe its wrong but i can say that mine will go about 2.5-3 in when i sit on it but when i jump it it lands hard as hell!! and im not the only one thats havin that problem or else these company wouldnt be making lighter springs for them so fast!! most of the time they make stiff ones! haha anyway if you think its wrong dont blame me im just sayin what works said!

I weigh 155 and took all the preload out at both ends and set the compression 1 1/2 turns from soft and was able to bottom it out on a 70ft triple, but I went up one full turn on the compression and its good to go. I think the shocks are fine with a little adjustment.

I love the way my Rear shock is too, i would rather have it alittle stiff than soft, because then it will soak up bigger jumps, which is what it's made for. Plus i had people tell me when i was going through really rough breaking bumps my back end was getting kicked up, and almost every other guy with aftermarket junk was getting kicked all over, I haven't even touched the stock settings at all. Same with jumps, most of the other guys would come off crooked and land hard but my quad was great at taking away bumps off the faces.

I think I may have an answer to a few posts:
- You have to think of how much weight gets put on the spring.
First of all your 150-200lb weight it not all on just that spring and you have some of the quads weight distributed to it also.
- The shock then it not at straight 90 degrees it is at an angle.
- So, when you jump a 500lb+ quad and it comes down from 4 feet in the air; you don't have to be a genius in physics to know that there is more the 460lbs of force coming down on that shock.
- The last thing to consider is, when your bike sags 2in, the shock may have just moved about 1/4". Its all in the angles.
- Finally, the spring is a progressive spring, so that first inch or so of spring would have a different spring rate, allowing the bike to sag.
:p
The data from Works seems pretty acceptable to me.

I'm 175 and my rear shock is good. The fronts felt stiff at first, but after about 15 hours they are broken in and feel much better.
I have my Rear compression 4 clicks in, and rebound slow as it will go. It was bucking me alot at first.
My front shocks, I back off the preload nut. The front compresson I have it set two full tuns IN. I haven't messed with the front rebound.
