Please post all Cherry Bomb questions here

As we all know, the cherry bomb made by Yoshimura is a well known upgrade for the LTR-450. It is a very simple part and literaly takes two minutes to install. This simple part boasts a 7hp gain, but even though it is extremely easy to install, many rumors have been started about it. Posts all of LTR450HQ have been made about these rumors and finally there is a page to turn to for the answerers. Please feel free to ask any questions or state any information about the cherry bomb in this thread. In fact, it would be greatly appreciated.

I'm interested in trying the Cherry Bomb, Baffle out, and lid off setup for MX riding. However, I do alot of trail riding. For trail riding could I simply remove the Cherry Bomb, put the lid back on, and re-install the spark arrestor.
I am asking because:
1. In muddy and wet trail conditions I don't know if I want to run without a lid.
2. One of my favorite riding areas was engulfed in a forest fire a couple of years ago; therefore, I would like to have a spark arrestor.

i'm not a big fan of the lid off in any cicumstances. I run mine with the lid and still beat a lightly modded yam 450.
the most riding i do is in the woods. Like 99% of it, and i've never incounterd a problem.

I dont know about the spark arrestor. I've only seen sparks come out of an exhaust once and it was during a race that i was watching.

Any other adivice or opinions would be appreciated. :)
The spark arrestor is not to big of an issue for me; however, I think it would be a good idea to have the air box lid on for some trail riding. On the other hand, the intake holes are on the lid anyways. So its not like I would be lowering the intake height by removing the lid. Would it run to rich with the CRBM and the lid on
What do you guys think!

Hey Hinkle, thanks for the reply!
So you run your ltr with a cherry bomb, the baffle out, and the air box lid on.
If that's the case, then how does it seem to run (Is it to rich?). [/b]
ito me it dosnt run rich, no idications of it, but i dont have a a/f ratio to prove it.

so far ive been riding mine with the cherry bomb and lid off and baffel out since i brought it home. i ride in alaska and there isnt alot of "clean" places to ride, i go through alot of mud trees ect... so far no problems at all i have the engine cough once when i hit a creek at about 50mph but other than that the seal around the seat keeps almost all the water out.

I was told running baffle out will make it run hotter and possibly ruin stuff internaly. Any truth to that?

It will run "hotter"/leaner if you don't correct the A/F ratio. The Cherry Bomb will adjust the fuel injection, to the race map, so it will add more fuel. A very lean A/F ratio will eventually burn up your top end.

So, not to sound stupid, i will NOT do any dmage to my quad by running no baffle as long as i run the cherry bomb also? I will be putting a dasa system on it but til then thought baffle out sounded good. I just bought this quad and i don't want to screw it up by getting in a hurry to make it go fast. Thanks

Seem's like everything is backorder, even the Cherry Bomb. If my dealer can't get me one in by next week I'm just going to order on off of ebay or something. Need more Power!!

I think I'll spend the extra 20-30 bucks and get the real thing. My LT-R cost me to much money to risk plugging some no-name knock off product into it. :bangbang:

You can make them yourself for about 1.00$...not hard to do

I read in a magazine that the cherry bomb is only like a 2.4 horsepower gain, and then if you add the yoshi rs-5 full exhaust that is actually another 2.5 horsepower boost giving you the full 7 hp boost is this true or is just the cherry bomb a full 7 hp boost???
