My friend bent the sprocket hub on his 05 Raptor, and he asked if I would fix it if he bought me a new pair of Oakleys... I dont know much about Yamahas and my question is do I have to remove to axle to change the sprocket hub or how do I go about switching out the hubs? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Take off the lock nut that is right next to the brake disk, remove the wheel hub on the same side and slide out the axle through the sproket hub. If its been used a lot it will be harder, i would tap it with a mallet to get it out.

Not a real hastle, but can be a pain in the ass if its set in there. I hope he is buying the new hub and not you, they cost more than a new set of goggles!

Are you sure its the sproket hub, and not just the sproket itself? If its just the sproket, you do not have to remove the axle, just the wheel hub on the left side.

Well, I got it all replaced. Wasnt to bad. It was dirty so I didnt see the set screws in the axle lock nut. That had me cussing because it would turn a little to the left then stop. Then I reveresed it and it went a little to the right then stopped. Wasnt sure which way the thing went until I decided to clean it all off. Peice of cake after that. It was the hub, it got a rock hung between the swingarm and sprocket hub and it bent it. Never seen anything like it.
