thanks to a tip from ltr450rr i decided to swing out to the track and race the r450 for the first time.it was 6ft trophy night wich draws a huge crowd.lots and lots of quads.in the past i would rarely race at this track due to poor maintance.it was rough REAL ROUGH!but after i read that 450rr said they have changed it and they were giving away 6ft trophies i had to check it out.
got to the track and was shocked at how many riders were already there and ithought i was early.went to the sign up registered than took a quick gander at the track.WOW!i was impressed.it was wide smooth and FAST!just the way i like them.
went back to the truck and unloaded the beast.i love having a new quad they draw so much attention.this would be my first ride after installing the trinity powerflow filter.nice increase i was suprised.wasnt expecting much.get it feuled up and took it up for practice.went out on the track.yup it was fast as it looked.you could pretty much pinnit around the whole track.you had to back off a little for some of the jumps but for the most part if you had the nads you could just hold it pinned.
after practice they posted the running order and i noticed they didnt have my name on the sheet so i had to go straighten that out.it sucked because i now had last gate pic.all the way on the outsideis where i was facing a mudhole about 2/3 the way down the straight (wich is a decent distance slightly down grade).never really practiced any holeshots on the zuk yet so wasnt sure what to expect.concrete starting gate to boot.gate drops and i get some wheelspin but once i get to the dirt it starts rocketing.i past most of the pack down the straight and come out of the ffirst corner in 4th(i believe).picked off one guy right off the bat but had to work on the next two.a yfz and and a 450r.i picked off the yfz almost a lap later and started pressuring the 450r rider.as wide as the track was passing really wasnt an issue as i outpowered him up an uphill jump and mad the pass and put the hammer down to get a comfy lead.YES first place!
all i could think about was how awesome this quad is.it is hands down the best handling quad i have ever ridden and had no problem hanging with built honduhs and yamihoes.up hills ,down straights wherever they could not pull away.after pulling off the track and cruising back through the pits i know i made alot of people believers.i was getting tons of looks and could hear people commenting on how fast the quad is.
time for the second moto.it is now dark and track is under lights.(my lenses on the goggles were slightly tinted and didnt really think much of it till i put them on at the gate)it has cooled off quite a bit and quads were gonna be running strong.one thing i noticed the first moto was that the stock tires suck on hardpack in the corners.you will loop out with ease if not careful.well after 40 motos the track was now really hardpacked in the corners.the cold weather made them slippery as well. i knew i had to be extra careful not to spin out. any ways gate drops same thing get some wheel spin and have to pull my way up through the pack.come out of the first corner in second behind the yfz that finished second the first moto and was on a mission this moto.i knew i had to pass to get the trophy. i was having a heck of a time in a few of the corners and was having to rail the out side of the corners to get traction to keep from spinning out at the same time not letting anyone pass.after about a half a lap that wasnt an issue as we pulled away from the rest of the pack pretty good.i folllowed as closely as i could waiting for an oppertunity to make a pass.as we approached the face of the tripple we were basically side by side when he backed off a bit to downside the tripple.i stayed on the gas and overshot it to make the pass.YES back in first.the rest of the race i rode asa fast as i could but being very cautios not to spin out wich was a core.i was able to hold him off for the win.it was a good race and i got the 6 footer

i couldnt be happier with the quad.

thanks everyone!i had a blast!
no i have not reinforced this area yet but have been keeping a close eye on it.so far so good.i have bottomed the suspension pretty hard too.maybe 170lbs isnt enough to do it?at this track there is a jump where you jump downhill right before you go up an uphill double.i was jumping off the hill and landing at the bottom just before going up and there was a large hole there from a few others landing in the same spot and it would hit pretty hard there.i thought for sure if it was gonna break it would do it there.i do plan on reinforcing it though by welding in the washer
