Hey guys...seems like a dumb question...but i was just installing my AC pro pegs (didnt come with instructions) and was wondering how the front part attaches to the frame. I have the two aluminum spacers and two shanked bolts as well as several other bolts all the same and some washers with everything else installed. I have tried putting it together with the two shanked bolts and the spacers but when i do that the bolt hits the frame before they tighten down...any suggestions and pics would be great!

Thanks

Im wondering the exact same thing, I also cant seem the put the front bolts on that attaches to the frame. I have asked a few guys, and when I get an answer, I will tell you. I just need some pics of what bolts to use where.

Well it looks like u should use the shorter bolt, then slide that spacer on the bolt after it's put through the bracket. i'm going to work on my quad today and i'll check out my Ac nerfs.

ok thanks a lot. try and get a close up pic of where you mounted the front.

this is how I mounted the fronts....I did both sides differently so that someone can tell me what side is correct and what side is wrong.

I don't have those nerfs, but it does look like they are mounted correctly when you used the spacer. The bolt that is not threaded all the way is probably the correct one to use with the spacer. The reason it is not completely threaded is probably because it not supposed to be screwed in all the way; therefore I would use it with the spacer.

alrighty...i put them on...on one side i put the spacer in and ended up using two washers on the outside to keep the bolt from hitting the frame when tightening down...on the other side i put the bolt through the nerf then a washer then the spacer then another washer and then into the frame...this second way worked better cuz i almost cracked the tab sticking up trying to pull everything tight with the washers outside the tab....so i would reccommend putting the bolt in the tab through a washer...spacer...washer...into frame when installing them

oh i used the bolt with the shank

it will...you have to man handle those things on...loosen up the footpeg bolts and you should be able to wiggle them where they need to be to line up...i know its not that easy...but you just gotta make it happen...i stretched mine out a little to make it easier...stuck the end of the nerf in stake pocket on my trailer and acted like i was trying to lift the trailer and doing that made it a good bit easier to line up.

ya thats what I did...but I think I scrwed up the threads on the frame where the bolts goes into because I CANT tighten it! I got both screws in finally though and they are sturdy now, they just make a lot of noise, which I will just get used to I guess. My buddy owns a machine shop, so Im taking them to him tomorrow, and I will probably drill a big hole rite through where the boots peg goes on, and put a nut on the other side, and tighten the shit out of it. And then Im gonna go buy some U-bolts, and put those on the front, just for extra support. They should be strong as hell then~! thanks for the pics though.

yea I have a lot of leftovers aswell. Just use your stock footpeg bolts(2 per side) and then one bolt per front mount thing, and the rest is just extra Im guessing. Did your fit good? Mine feel like complete SHIT! They are the worst nerf bar I have ever seen. They rattle like hell, didnt go on worth a shit, and they costed me a fortune by the time they got here.

no offence to you guys buying AC, I bought them, and bent the footpeg after a couple of hard landings. I do hope you guys dont have the same problems i had, therefore I did not buy annother set from them.

I looked at a number of nerfs, and my criteria was that it had to be sturdy, good workmanship, high quality and easy to install. After comparing them one by one (and a month Later) I ended up buying Pro-armor. Yes, they are a bit more expensive than others & still have a few bugs to sort out, but when it comes down to craftmanship, they ROCK!!

Took me just on 1 Hour to install them with no rattles or movement in the bar. There is a 2nd bolt you need to install to make it secure on the foot-peg, but verry happy I purchaced them. Keep it in mind for your next purchase.

IMO the best i could buy.... NO, im not sponsored by them

I knew I should have gotten the pro armor's!! It was between the AC's that I got, and the pro-armors, and yup, I chose the crap ones. If anyone is interested in buying these off me, PM me asap, I will be willing to sell them. I will put a post in the for sale section rite now for them.

I'd honestly buy another set of AC Pro-Pegs, I've bottomed mine into the face of jumps hundreds of times and they've held true. I've heard hundreds of horror stories from this site alone of people having install problems, but mine honestly were no troubles at all. Definitely makes me wonder if other people are too impatient to make them fit right, or if I've always gotten lucky with their products?

MX..I dunno...I am a pretty patient guy when it comes to making parts fit your ride...I learned from all the cars I have done...it's the same in hot rodding...seems like nothing ever fits...having said that...AC?...yech...just for an example?...a week or so ago I took the AC bumper off my TRX?...could barely get it back on...just like I remembered it the first time...and NO I wasn't in any hurry...just reaffired my hatred for that company. I dressed out 2 TRX's (Mine and my sons) at the same time and exactly the same issues with both bikes...fortunately for me I grew up around sheet metal and I was able to modify everything to fit...but WHY?...yes every nerf is probably gonna have to be massaged a little bit...I think we all understand that...but vise grips, clamps, hammers and the like?..on a brand new set straight from AC?...No...something is definately wrong with their quality control...and has been for years from what I understand...
Again...glad your have been ok with their products and I'm happy for all who did NOT have an unpleasant experience with AC...but for those of us who HAVE had the pleasure of beating the hell out of a brand new $300 set of nerfs?....We're kinda pissed...ya know?...just my opinion...
