I was talkin with someone who works very closely with KTM and they said the new quad will be announced next week. He wouldn't say what motor or give up any good details he just said to keep and eye out for the announcment. We'll see how it looks. If it has a version of KTM's 450 in it it will atleast have a decent powerplant.

Awesome, but i'd wonder what the price tag will be. Also since it's their first quad it could have alot of problems it's first year.

I think Honda and Yamaha are gonna have to step it up in 08 cuz they seemed to not respond to the LT-R, but now with the KFX and maybe the KTM they have to do something. I see GOOD things in the sports quad future!!!

I agree with that staement and I believe that Yamaha will come out with the EFI YFZ and of course it will probably be a redsigned motor and maybe a new updated look. Honda will take their time and evaluate all the response and then react later as they have almost every pro riding one now anyway, so sales are good.

Kawasaki needs to pull off a good looking bike for once and I'm not sure anyone is going to like this rubber mounted on the fenders no matter how practical they think it may be. That stuff will be cut off first and aftermarket plastics sales will be good.
I hope the new KTM/Polaris is not just a KTM motor stuck in a predator frame! I hope it' a whole new design. I't s great time to be involved in this sport as the competition is making it better for the consumer. Now if we can just keep the riding areas from being closed!

The Predator chassis was actually pretty damn good! The steering and handling was real nice! The only problem with the Predator was that damn boat anchor motor! That thing weighs 100lbs and is a slow revver! I would STILL own my pred if it wasn't for that motor! Lord knows I did EVERYTHING possible to that quad and I was still pretty competetive on it spite being out motored and heavier!

I think it's gonna be a pretty bad ass quad. If polaris has a lighter chassis and better suspension, with the ktm engine it should rip pretty dang good. Yamaha is most likely gonna have a aluminum chassis, since they should have the kinks worked out form the raptor along with the fuel injection.

I like Polaris but I always thought they were slugs. Very comfortable though. I think if done right this will be the quad to watch for. By that I mean not just tossing a KTM engine in a Polaris frame. I hope they started with a whole new fresh design.

Predator's are actually pretty comfortable machines for me, especially as a bigger guy. The natural position the seat puts you in almost feels like the style of a streetbike. Tyler has a valid point in the majority of the excess weight being in the motor, they are extremely heavy - a re-worked motocross weight chassis with the KTM motor would be impressive

KTM makes really good motors. The guy that told me this said that to make FIM or sumthin like that legal they had to put like 15 lb skid plate to meet minimum weight requirements and it supposed to have a price tag of mid to low 8K. Dont know how reliable my source is. Seems to know his chit though.

Were any of the frames gussetted? I snapped one frame and Polaris warrantied it for me (after the quad was OUT of warranty) and then I installed Rath Racing's pro gusset kit and never had anymore issues.

Oh.... and the new bike is the Outlaw with a 525 KTM motor in it. It's the IRS quad and only weighs 395lbs.

Has anyone seen the artical in "ATVSport" magazine Sept. 2006 issue, on page 68? It's a KTM 576 quad set up for the dunes. It's not a true factory KTM, but a quad a guy built using a KTM 576 engine. It's orange, too, so it looks like something KTM would build.

It's got 15.5 inches of travel, weighs just 365 lbs, and has a lot more torque and power than any sport quad on the market. If the KTM quad is anything like this one, we're all dead! Looks good too.
