Hey everyone new to this site but I had a question on changing the stock piston an rings to a 12:5:1 piston. Here's my deal sent the head off to have new valves and port work done but also thought about changing the piston as well, here's my question since the cylinder is nikisil and has minor scoring can I change the pistons out and will the rings seat good or would I be better off leaving the stock piston and rings in till I'm ready to do the cylinder as well? Or is there a way to remove the scoring without hurting the nikisil? Thanks for the help guys.

you will need to hone the cylinder and measure it up to see if it is in spec

nonsense! Google it I have done it many times. You just do a few quick passes on it to break the glaze and put a nice cross hatch on it.
