Got a call from Garrett at Yoshi today and I'll have mine on Friday. I had him 2day it to me for this weekend.

FIMAKs are supposedly 2 weeks out.

I just got off of the phone with Yoshi. They said the cherry bomb and the PIM will use the same race map. The only reason you will need a PIM is so that you can plug the FIMAK into it. Then the PIM will store the edits made to the map. Basically if you bolt on a pipe all you need is a cherry bomb. If you add cams, porting ect. then you will not only need a PIM, but a FIMAK also. PIM by itself does nothing more then a cherry bomb.

That's strange. When I talked to them they stated that the PIM had two maps built into it and one was for the Yoshi with the spark arrestor and the other was for the Yoshi without it.

That's my biggest gripe with Yoshi. You never get the same answer twice.

Surely to God someone at Yoshi has to have their head in their @ss to sell two products that do the same thing with that kind of price difference. I mean, c'mon, $40 for the CB, or $260 for the PIM? And the only difference is if you tune more than a pipe and filter then you need the FIMAK to adjust the maps on the PIM? Sounds like someone is asking us to bend over a little further.

According to what Yoshi told me you can't just plug a laptop into the PIM. I really think someone will hack this though to make it possible.

The lap top plugs into the FIMAK. The FIMAK is the tool that adjusts the map. The PIM stores the reprogrammed map. The FIMAK is just another way for yoshi to make money. They could have just sold the PIM for $50.00 more and supplied us with a cable that would plug into a lap top. Then we could all share maps, but then they would be out on all that money.......

Not according to what they told me. I inquired if I could just use their free program that you can download of the site and plug a laptop into the PIM and their answer was no because it would not work as the program would not interface with the PIM. To me that tells me that like you say they want to get more of our money. As I stated though someone will hack this and we will be able to just hook a laptop to the PIM to program it.

By the way my PIM came in today and it has a sheet that shows each map. I'll go to my store tomorrow and scan it all into a PDF and post the maps as well as the installation instructions. I also have a call into Yoshi to try and get a copy of the two maps that are already in the bike for comparison.

i just bought the pim off of ebay.i wonder if i can still use my tfi controller i just picked up at the shop today.

I doubt it as the PIM is the interface for the FIMAK which also stores the two maps that are in the PIM. YOu take the FIMAK and program the maps. There is a jumper you plug in to access one of two maps in the PIM. This is interesting because you can have two maps programmed in the PIM and switch between the two by turning the bike off and either plugging in the jumper or taking the jumper off.

Well I picked up a PIM today from my local dealer and I have an observation and a question...

First thing I notcied is that it looks like the PIM harness plugs in between the injectors similar to to the Trinity and Dobeck Controllers which surprised be a bit as I figured the PIM would just override the factory computer but I guess it does that in a round about way so to speak. My dealer told me that you would use the PIM in conjunction with the cherry bomb which I suspect is not the case. There is no mention of the CB in the PIM installation manual. Can anybody confirm this?

I am in no big hurry to install the PIM as my bike seems to run great with just the CB but since I do plan on installing an intake, I figured the PIM will come in hand. Especially once the FIMAK is released. I will probably play with it at Pismo next weekend so I can compare the CB vs the PIM.

Any test results yet?
