any news on when the 450r and yfz450 will have EFI? after doug and his R dominate the series this year i think honda and yamaha will try it on there new models. it wont be long before every competition quad has EFI.

Word is Yamaha is already developing a fuel injection kit system to be standard on their 07

it really doesn't add mujch of any power over a carburator. Well not yet that is.

artic cat has a pattin on there efi that dosent need a battery, and a belive a pattin is 10 years and if so it should almost be up if not already, (its on there snowmobles) but i see this hitting the market in a couple years on quads, which would be pretty cool.

I wonder why dirtbikes dont have EFI?? You would think Ricky and Bubba would have fuel injection on their factory 450s... There must be a reason behind this. I think with a carburator being more simple, there's less to go wrong with it in the middle of a 20 lap main. That seems to be my theory.

yah but Fi is so much more snappy and you can precisely tune every map of fuel at any rpm and its a lot more easy to tune

well if honda come out with a 32bit Fi with a maps sensor i might be tempted... i mean to be able to modify your quad and have it just automatically dump in more fuel when it leans out... what a concept

Well it's still good for climate changes/temperature and all that, it would be able to dump lessw fuel in cooler weather w/o tuning, etc.
