Also, guys that are running open switches and grounding out ignition, have you had any EFI problems or heard of anyone having them? It seems like everyone talks about it being bad for the EFI ystems but I haven't seen any cases where anyone has actually HAD the problem.

Sorry guys, it seems I dont know how to make a poll. Please reply still.

well I see this was pointless. Thanks for the great replies. Has anybody heard of anyone having problems with a normally open switch? People always talk about how bad it is but I've never actually seen anyone have problems and a majority of the people at races seem to run normally open switches.

Matt, sorry you feel your post was pointless.

There was a pretty heated debate regarding this very topic and it as well as several other great threads are in the "Important Information" forum. Many of the frequent members to not care to rehash some of these topics and doing a search or checking the above forum might have been a better route. I suggest reading the thread and deciding for yourself:

I run an open kill switch, but grounded into the tip switch and seems to be working great, in fact, I think it actually picked up a few HP! :)

What is the difference between closed and open?

Closed is normal through. The wire is connected, grounded, DOES permit electricty or current to pass through.

Open is the opposite. Wire is disconnected or "cut". DOES NOT permit electricty or current to pass through.

Thanks OK. I have a pingel on my bike now, I've tried the gunnar, and I have a pro design one. What I was asking that I could not really find in any forums were cases in which some acctually had problems with their EFI b/c of normally open switches. I've never seen any on any forums, so I'm going to assume there hasn't been many.

It confused me for the longest but the easiest way to remember it is that a Normally Closed circuit is one that has a continuous connection (gate is closed and the wires are connected) and lets current flow through it (spoon is in). Normally Open does not allow current to flow through (gate open so no connection between the wires) because there is an opening in the wire (spoon in).

NC lets current flow through until the spoon is pulled then it cuts the current. NO has a ground wire that does not let any current flow through until the spoon is pulled and then it grounds out the wire the other end is connected to.
