Porter- Like LTRRider said if there is something going on with the exhaust cam making them hard to start, and you say the starters are weak well then, yeah, the cam makes it hard to start thus burning up more starters.

its not a recall yet but my ltr is currently getting a brand new starter (second replacement), starter clutch and exhaust cam...all under warrenty

what the mechanic at my dealer said was the brush plate broke on the starter so when that was replaced i rode for about 10 minutes, then it started running really rough so i took it right back...the mechanic tried to start it and broke the brush plate again so he called suzuki while i was there and they told him this...

when you start the engine the exhaust cam is soposed to open the exhaust valve every time around..that wasnt happening after he put a new brush plate in. this caused too much compression and instead of the starter turning the gear (not sure what gear) the starter tried to climb the gear and it puts too much pressure on the brush plate

im not exactly sure how all of that works thats just what i was told

so they guy at suzuki told him to warrenty a whole new starter, starter clutch and exhaust cam

its not a recall. its a tsb (technical service bulletin) which is sort of a recall without officially recalling all the affected bike. Basically suzuki determines that its not safety related so therefore is only fixed when the affected bikes are brought in for service with the related symptoms. the tsb for the exhuast cam auto decompression lever is real and has been posted over the internet on plenty of forums and i swear i've seen it hear somewhere, maybe it was ltr450central.

Hmmmmmmmm!

Well then there must have been a bad shipment, because Everybody i know with a LTR hasn't had a problem yet. I've had my LTR since March, so if there was a problem i would've gotten it by now.
