Quad magazine june 2006 Ultimate Fighters (450 shootout) pgs 51-65 QUOTE "So what can we say about the honda? By no means is it a bad machine -quite the opposite- it's a very good quad. We honestly were a bit suprised at the outcome ourselves. The bottom line is, when compared to the other machines, the 450R just falls flat in too many catagories. The Suzuki and Yamaha offer more refined machines." unquote Bringing it in third out of three. Isn't that last? Well the LTR won the first 450 shootout should be interesting to see how the other reviews go. Keep in mind I am not slamming Honda's I have several that I love!

DIRT WHEELS June 2006, High Performance Shoot Out pg. 116 :
"In our high performance race shoot out, we would rank Suzuki LT-R450 first, and the Yamaha YFZ450 second, and narrowly ahead of the Honda 450R in third" :p

Read 'em and weep!

I am glad to see these shootouts showing us what we already knew. I just find it awsome that Suzuki hit a home run and knocked out the comp who already had a few years with 450 racers. I liked the Honda ok and was worried when i let my bro in law take over payments so i could get the zuki. Now i am so glad i did. I feel so much more comfortable on the LTR than i did on the TRX. Im 28 and the 05 TRX was the first sport quad i had ever owned... learned alot in a yr on it but was never comfortable. As soon as I got on my LTR when i brought it home last month I felt right at home. Like I had been riding it forever. Love it more every day. Glad everyone else can read in the mags that what we are all saying is FACT. The LTR is the best RACER out there.

I expected my new DW mag in the mail because I saw it in the store today to read their (usually bias'ed) review and it was not here! Doesn't that make you mad when the suscribers get them after the stores or your buddy's that just go buy one?

Isn't the store supposed to get them a month after we get them? Thats how it used to be, i'd get my mag around the 20th then starting the next month the stores would get it.

For us duners/hillshooters not bad at all. There's a lot more aftermarket parts for the other 450's and you guys are kind of limited with FI until better programming is available. Sorry to say until you guys get cams and other go fast parts you'll most likely be eating sand so stick to the track where you have the advantage. I still haven't raced one but saw one lose to an average 450r in a drag. Who knows, maybe we're just living on borrowed time. :D

I'll give you that. It probably was bone stock and it was a fairly close race. For me the verdicts still out until I see one that can keep up with the built 450's. I'm sure it will happen. It's just a matter of when.

Read his sig, lol - It was probably his quad that he raced...
But drag races mean nothing, all though fun. The Rider has alot more to do with drag races than most think.
Fact of the matter is the suzuki 450 > honda 450r  J/m with you.

I have to agree with 3MTA on the parts issue BUT I am suprised how quickly parts are becoming available. It won't be long at all before the parts playing field is leveled. Hell last week when I muched the quads, Trinity Racing was there with a 500 big bore kit and a Lone Star long travel set-up. And it's only been what? a couple of months maybe?
As far as the drag racing? On THAT I have to agree with the HQ...it's a whole lotta rider...tires definately come into play as Fuel, Ace and I found out. But for the record? I personally witnessed the LTR kick the crap out of everything that was in the sand on that Sunday at Glamis...and I apoligize to all who feel slighted. So lets not start another "I raced a etc., etc." forum here. They are all great machines... LTR lovers just happen to feel they got the best...I know I do :)

Yes it was my TRX i raced, my bro in law was on it (hes buying it) and he weighs about 50 lbs less than i do. We raced several times and even swaped rides to see if it was the rider. LTR still won. He did beat me when my LTR was stock though, baffle in and lid on, but i knew he would. I really didnt think id beat him after the
CB was put on. We were both surprised how much power the LTR gained. Anyways thats neither here nor there the point is the new QUAD mag has some great info in there so if u dont get it mailed to you go out and buy it. Its well worth it.

P.S.- The proof is in the pudding

The thing that sucks is that he was the only LTR I saw all weekend and he was only at the hill for a couple of races and then he split. I did talk to a guy with a super fast 486ex on alky and he told me that with the right build the LTR will walk away from the other 450's.
