Okay I just went and bought a ltr tuesday and have found this website, I have been reading pages and pages of ppl with there gearbox problems. I am wondering if ppl are just hearing whining noises or are they having lock up problems or broken gears or anything worse than whining, all these posts are getting me worried. I have put like ten hours on it since i bought it. I have been riding it every chance I have and so far it's been a great quad. I put the cherry bomb on and removed the lid and pea shooter. it's just the gear box thing is a little startling.

I started getting occasional whining from my gear box, and found a strange way to stop it, I dont know if it works for anyone else. When it happens, I slow down to about a low 2nd gear, pull the clutch and lock up the rear brakes till i am almost stoped, pop the clutch once back into gear and presto, no more whining. Dont know why this helps mine, but maybe it will help others???

Ya I think it will be too. Does anyone know where to get a swingarm skid plate. I tried to buy one when I bought it but they said they couldnt get one for them yet. So I was wondering if anyone else found one somewhere. I was also wondering what some other good parts are to put on it other than the cherry bomb??

Everybody runs different stuff I have Pro Armor skids all around, Pro Armor Exhaust (Cernics one of our site sponsors sells it). The full exhaust shoot out will be up in the next week, if you can hold off on exhaust and I would not but a PIM untill some one dynos one and proves it gives some actuall HP. If you want a bumber there are none better than a Fuel JMO

You can get Pro Armor which Cernics sells, I think pro armor has some of the best products and if you need any questions about them give cernics a PM.

A few people who that have tried it have added an extra 200ml of oil to their quads and it stopped their wining. I know I have to do the same thing to my LTZ400 because if I didn't it wouldn't even register on the dipstick. I also just read the same thing in a well known quad magazine but they said to add 100ml.

Hope this helps!

I like the Pro Armor stuff. Looks nice and I've heard alot of good things about them.

From Fuel's dyno's it seems like Yoshi has the most HP but everything is going to be with in 1-2 hp of each other. I still love my 2Bro's pipe. :)

Contact Cernics they can hook you up with everything you need.

As for the tranny I have read one post of some guy who ran Ice Enduro's that blew 3rd gear I think but I don't believe it has to do with this whinning. Alot of people have it happen and they haven't had any issues yet.

I went to the track yesterday and my ltr started making the whining noise. it gets pretty loud in 2nd gear but it just sounds like the clutch is noisy or something kinda like a dirt bike is, it wasnt really a grinding noise. it didnt affect how it ran really it just sounded like crap. but then i got on my buddies kfx and noticed that it makes the same noise just not as loud. so I just wonder if this is something that suzuki's do, just kinda like hondas and their noisy valves???
