[attachmentid=533]I'm about to do my first oil change and a local atv race shop recomended Bel Ray EXR Racing Sae 20w-50. What do ya'll think of this. They said it would protect the motor better. I know the manual saids to use 10w-40, but this shop is a Suzuki shop, so maybe they know something different about it?

Well it should be okay, but if you use it and don't like then just try some valvoline.

Well up here in Canada we have temps ranging from way below freezing in the winter, and 80 to 100 in the summer, right now we are floating around 70 degrees, now would 20w50 be too thick for this weather? I will definately run 10w40 in the winter, but what temp range is good to run the 20w50? Also I hear Full Synthetic Oils make the clutch slip?? Is this true? Thanks.

Correct, it is best to avoid fully synthetic oils on these machines...20w50 should work great. We have the same extreme temperatures here (Minnesota) as you guys do there (-40 on cold days to 100+ on hot days). I normally swap to a 10w40 when temperatures start lingering around freezing point, and run 20w50 in all temperatures above that point. The LTR manual rates 20w50 up to 104 degrees and that's where the chart ends (same as 15w40/50 and 10w40/50)
