I was at the Redbud Mx event yesterday, and will go again this morning. I spent some time with Joe Byrd and his engine guy. I let them know I was thinking big bore kit, head work etc. Both agred I would create some reliability issues and could do a lot with just getting a full exhaust, head work, re-map, and good air filter.

My question to you guys here is which power commander will I need to get this done?

I have a local builder capable of the head work for me. Will a valve job also help?

If anybody can offer more details as to what I would need without the bore kit, I would appreciate an explanation of sorts.

They both thought I can get 50HP fairly easily on what they told me to do.

I would prefer not to bore, and just maximize airflow and fuel mixture related things.

What do you think?

One more thing...who makes air filters for our quads, my stocker has already ripped.

I'll jump in on this one because I was one of the first to screw mine up :D

OK...in MY opinion?

Go with the Yoshi stuff because DESPITE the fact that their customer service line couldn't tell their ass from hole in the ground...their pipe and CRBM make good solid HP numbers...and every pipe manufacture seems so now be backing off the EFI module kick and are finally agreeing that the CRBM is just fine for 90% of the people out there that pipe this bike.

The guys you talked to bring up a very valid point...RELIABILITY...when you tear into a bike like that you DO affect the reliability of the engine. It's the same old story...when you change one thing...you change everything. And unless you idea of fun is to be the first to try and figure everything out for the benefit of everyone else (aka shelling out your hard earned cash while everyone else watches) I would leave the internals stock. Not to mention I think you would probably rather ride than work on your bike :D

Just my 2 cents :p

I did all Yoshi, pipe, PIM, and a proflo, and the thing hangs easily with YFZ's that have over 4k in motor and suspension parts.

i have full yosh exhaust and cherry bomb and i put built yfz's, trx's and banshee's (banshee guys still think they are king of the trails until you spank them on the ltr...) to shame every time. only thing in my area that can touch me is my buddies LTR (just cherry bomb, but hes more than 60 lbs lighter than me) and purpose built drag quads that are never ridden

p.s. i dont want to mess with the rod to stoke ratio on these engines yet, so i wont bother stroking until i know someone else who beats on thier ltr as much as me has already stroked thiers and it is reliable. BUT as my username suggests, i am turboing my ltr. turbo/intercooler placement and piping is still an issure im sorting out, as im trying to keep it as clean and stock looking as possible, and the space restrictions on these bikes makes that very difficult
