This is not my head Al. I asked John about your question. That is not rust/pitting you are seeing. That is just how rough the intake is.... no rust. I guess the pic is somewhat deceiving in that matter.
BTW, no oxy fuel for my engines. Not worth the 1-2hp to me.

But to answer that fuel question, I have ran a tank of U4 through it...just curious, what exactly isnt worth it about the oxy fuels? Ive heard of it pitting, but never have actually seen it...and a few of my buddies run nothing but oxy fuel...not calling anyone out just curious for my own FYI
Just waiting for DASA to get my cams back here...should be running next weekend. I'll throw my bucket on the dyno and see what happens...

I've heard the same about oxy fuels but have never taken mine down. The Z ran on oxy fuel for over a year so when I pull it down this winter I"ll let you guys know what it looks like on the exhaust port. I've heard that it crystalizes really bad but again I have never seen one that has been torn down after using oxy fuel.
Those nasty pics are nothing....that was VP MRX01 fuel. The current fuel i run is VP MR9 and it looks twice as bad as that. I took pics but they somehow didnt make it on to my computer and i deleted them off the camera. Only 10-15 hours on this head and it looks like someone went deep sea fishing and caught this head at the bottom of the ocean...YUCK! Theres like barnicles in there :lol: Im laying off the oxy fuels i think myself.

This thing is retarded...
It has power everywhere...mid-top end power is gnarly, it straightens your arms out. I jumped on it in the middle of 4th gear and it blew the tires off, ripped through 4th and needed 5th. I thought it would be kinda weak down low cause of the cams but it feels torquier than before.
Power is very broad....I thought it was gonna have more of a powerband, but its smooth and just RIPS throughout the whole band, I cant even feel it fall off...only time I can tell to shift is when it nails the limiter.
All im running is the CB... idle is perfect and it feels spot on throughout the powerband, doesnt pop, backfire or feel fat anywhere...Im running c12 which is plenty to ward off detonation. I seriously doubt a tuner is gonna do much for power...but Ill find that out once its on the dyno.
I tested it out on ashphalt just to get a feel for it...FYI havent been in the dirt so not sure how tractable its gonna be....
Just hope it feels as good in the sand as it does on the street :fro:
A few buddies and I are going out to a dry lake bed wednesday night....a buddy with a 05 YFZ just did a 14.1 piston, headport and cams...so it'll be fun to see what happens with that...I'll let you guys know

haha...I dont know if its that I havent rode in a month or two but it feels super good. Even my buddies that have pretty modded YFZ's are like "holy shit dude, that thing is no joke"...but I cant tell if they are sand baggin for when we actually get to race...haha
Its just super responsive...it has no hiccups are lag anywhere, when you pin the throttle the front end comes up and you need to grab another gear.
Im not tryin to honk my own horn or anything but I guess I just didnt expect much of a difference...Im happy as a pig in shit with it so far...we'll see what it does against other bikes though :fro:
