I got a call today from the dealer saying that I need to take my LTR in for its first maintance check-up. They said they're going to charge $100 for it. Oh and they "might" check the cams. WTF. I have done all the maintaince myself with the exeption of the cams. (lack of garage and some tools) So this is the only thing I see worth the trip there. I know its probably more than $100 in labor but for it to be a required. The person also told me that it was a Suzuki deal and not theres...

I've never bought the extented warranty before, is this common? To me, warranty means "fixed for free" not, bring it back in and let us charge you for spending money on trying to save your a$$. Also they said if I don't bring it in it will null and void my extented warranty. Now I wasn't a smart cookie and got it online for $250 like I found out after i got mine. Mine was like $500 or something gay.

I'm just looking for if this is normal or if I should go in raising hell.

This isn't true...as long as you have documentation of your oil changes and maintenance you should be covered...but it is true that warranties do not cover maintenance...so it's kinda your choice to take it in...

i am at the dealer all the time and they have never said anything like that. my dealership at first charged me 698 for the extended waranty then RCwhat showed me a link to Oneidisuzuki i believe and that was 452 i called them and they called suzuki and gave me an in store credit for the difference. my ? is why for the valve adjustment do they tell you after the first month then every six months? that is stupid cause we all ride diff amounts of time, so why not say after so many hours? more than a few members on here have checked their valves and i have yet to hear of any of them needing adjustment, so i hope all is well...

Like you said Junkie if I have proof of the maintaince records, I should be ok. I just did most of my maintaince last weekend: oil, oil filter, air cleaner, chain adj. and lube, tune the shocks to "my" likeing again (except for preload). I told the person on the phone that I just did all this and SHE said, well not you won't have to do it for a "long" time, but you still have to do it. I think that was my problem :p j/k.

I am gonna eat it I guess, I'm not the greatest at keeping records. I have no real justification to get the cams checked other than one of the service guys said it should be done, so maybe he'll do it, if he don't...I'm really good and living up to my initials...AH. Basically this is how i feel a dealership should treat a customer at there establishment......

but its more like.... :kickbut:

Here in NJ I Just paid $650 for ext warr. 4yr and Dealer wanted $210. for first warranty serv maint. They also did my recall. I lucked out they told my wife the quad was ready a week ago and a week later we go to pick it up to go to Blue Diamond Park in DE. and BAM Its not ready. She flipped on them and they ended up doing it complete for free. I gave The serv MNG and the MECH a Qiuck Check Ice Coffee $2.00 and I asked the mech did he check the valve clear... he said yes .. We get an e-mail of step by step guide of the things we have to do in order to clear Suzuki Maint. on any Bike. They also put on a new rear shock, I stripped mine lock ring trying to soften the preload. :fro:
