Funny thing, the guy who's quad it was, had a Suz. LTZ400 thumb throttle housing on it, and I couldn't believe it when I would get to wide open throttle gripping the bars tight, the thumb throttle blade would go over my index and middle finger pinching them between the grip and the thumb blade!!! WOW!!! I would basically have to yank my hand off the bars at almost wide-open to get it to shut down! Has anyone else with an LTZ400 ever ran into this problem??? I don't know why the guy had the LTZ housing on there, but I know it won't work for me! My stock LT250r housing, thumb blade is not so far away from the grip and there is no-way you can get your fingers pinched between! Just a strange feeling going into a jump and not being able to control launched speed!!! Just like the throttle sticking wide open or something, when you let off!!!
Had fun otherwise, and the ATK deal is still about a month away, finalizing plans with the Factory and all, and pieceing this Team effort thing together I guess? Will keep you posted though, might not have to get that 2007 LTR450,LMAO!!![/b]
Help, anyone ever run into this problem that has owned an LTZ400, with the stock throttle housing? I know the stock C-Dale housing never gave me a problem when I rode that Cannibal.

NO! Not even close for me. I have a 450r carb on my Z and I had to shave some off the arm inside the throttle assy to achieve WOT. I would pull the lid off and make sure the screw has not come out.

I have 3 of those 400's sitting in my garage and I have never had any problem like that...the only way I could see it was if the throttle housing was so far rotated that in theory you could get your fingers under it at WOT...but why?...here's some pics...

Junkie,
Thanks for the pic.'s and reply! I see your hand position in the lower pic is diff. than my grip on bars in race mode! It seemed like the throttle was maybe to close to the grip so we moved the handguard mount and brake over to center, and moved the housing over. Then tried to swivel the housing forward, backward, sideways ,upside-down, ect...ect... j/k on the upside-down!
It looks like your bars have a diff. pull-back angle at the end of the bars? Are those stock bars, on that LTZ you have? The bars on this ATK were, CRF450 Hi-ProTaper Fat bars and seemed pretty straight across with not much pull-back, so... maybe it was that angle? My LT250r HONZUKI has banshee bend bars and are close to the stock angle of the LT250r, which nobody I could find makes anymore! They don't seem to bother the pinching of the finger's. Idunno?
So maybe thats what's up with the thumb blade pinching is the angle of the bars or the "sweep" per the Renthal chart. It was just putting my hand at a diff. angle or something , but I'm telling you the guy who owned the quad couldn't believe it either! He had smaller hands and thinner fingers than I do, so maybe thats what it was, and we all know what "THAT" means don't we girls,LMAO!!! :p ;) , but that's another thread on some other web-site!!!

Junkie,
Medicinal marijuana? What do you know about that anyways?? You must be from Northern Cali. originally,LOL!!!
I looked at your lower pic. again, and I see you are standing off to the side of the machine where the nerf-bar should be? If you would take a pic. with yourself sitting on the seat and with a good full grip on the bars and your index finger-knuckle against the housing, maybe you would see what I mean? The way that the top edge of the thumb blade is lower than the grip on the bar, that distance seems to make the diff. I think. Unless you ride with the palm of your hand way out on the ends of the bars all the time?
Try it with your index finger-knuckle against the housing and leaning over to the left-side of the quad also, like I said maybe it was the LACK of "sweep" the TAG CRF450 Hi-Fat bars had, idunno? They were pretty straight bars.
Put that in your pipe and smoke it you JUNKIE,LMAO!!!

Dude...I'm telling ya I rode those quads all over the place and I NEVER got my fingers stuck under the throttle...and they only adjust up or down they don't turn on a pivot...so I duuno..

I mean it CAN be done but it's an aweful awkward position to be in for me...and my kids have never complained about it...

Maybe I NEED some hippy lettuce in order to get my fingers stuck...????

Junkie they were not UNDER the throttle they were between the thumb blade and the grip! No they don't only adjust up and down, they adjust in and out from center at least with the bars on the ATK!
TAG CRF-450 HI-Fat Bars!!! They are diff. than stock LTZ400 bars, read what is typed!
Are you pickin' up, what I'm puttin' down???
