Took my LTR ( yoshimura full system, pim, fimak) to the sand for the first time last weekend and was way disapointed. Started with stock gearing and 9 paddle haulers. It was very dead on drag starts, had to feather the clutch. dropped a tooth in the front and switched to 8 paddle haulers, a little better but could still beat it by 4 bike lengths with my old z400 with the yoshi 450 kit. has anyone found a perfect sand drag gearing combination ( short drags and comp hill)?

question#2, had the bike across the dino after I got the FIMAK, tuner was only able to get 1 hp over the stock no baffle map that came in the pim. has anyone else seen this?

Stupid question #3 maybe I screwed when I installed the pim, the wiring harnes came with connectors for the efi etc but also had extra connectors that looked like they were designed to plug in to the old harness that I had just disconnected so I hooked them up as the instructions were silent on this, anybody know if that's right?

Question 1- you must own a yellow one(lol)
Question 2- fuel might be able to help you out on that one
Question 3- yes that was right

All connectors should have hooked up. Did you remove the CRBM and plut the PIM into the plug that the CRBM was in (if you had the CRBM prior). The only connector that isn't plugged in is a small one that has the jumper plug attached to it. For the full system without the spark arrestor the plug stays out. If you have the spark arrestor in the plug shoud be plugged in.

I can tell you that the Yoshi 450 will SMOKE the LTR as you have it right now in a drag. I know for a fact that my Z450 smokes mine by 3-4 quad lengths in a drag. That will change over time though.

You also mentioned that you dosconected a harness. All connectiosn that you disconnected should plug right back into the harness that came with the PIM.

If you are a sand rider, get rid of the airbox. They are very restrictive. Worth a couple hp right there.

Hope you had the PIM hooked up all the way on map 2.............

Lastly, 9 paddles is WAY too much for this bike. 6 or 7 paddle hauler is plenty. Any more will just bog. With 21" haulers, 7 paddles, 13t front sprocket, 1st gear start, I holeshot some fast bikes.

Mine is stock lid off, baffle out and cherry bomb. I ran 8 paddle haulers and ran great great starts.
switch to 6 paddle gliders and lost some initial traction but went faster up hill olds glamis, seems to be more revved. also went faster in the long run than haulers (5th gear)

Thanks for the feedback, looks like I have everything hooked up ok. there's also a chance I got a poor dyno tech because I had to use a polaris dealer. Think I'll try going up one tooth in the back and keep the 8 paddles until I get the 13.75 :1 piston and some cams in it. I have the air box lid removed and have drilled 4 2 inch holes in it but am still running the stock filter a K&N would also probably help. Any word on Yoshi cams?

I spun one of my paddles (old paddles) in the first 5 minutes and had to put the stock rears back on. I let some air out of course and was acutally pretty impressed. Wasted eveyone in the drags except for one really mod YFZ with a one hundered pound lightweight and still beat him but just barely and he had 8 paddle haulers. Mines running like a stipped _____ ape. Just lookin forward to putting my setup from FUEL on.

By the way just glad I talked myself into taking the stocks with me. LOL

I run 21" 8 paddle haulers, dropped to a 13t front.. have the full RS-5 Yosh w/ sparky removed, and the EMS kit installed set on map #2.. also kept the box but removed the lid and put in a Pro-Flo K&N kit.. I am no small man, 6'-2" and about 225lbs. I am being honost when I say this.. I am very, very impressed. 1st, 2nd, or 3rd gear.. up hill or going down hill I have no problems with getting the front end off the ground.. mind you I did say down hill.. and no I am not some big fat butt sitting on the grab bar tugging at the bars with all my might...lol I love how my LTR runs  and that is all that matters.. possibly I will get beat by some other crazy build 450???? stick me against any of them with the same $$ invested and I'd bet my title with my larger size that I could take any YFZ or Honda. I'm stickin with what I got and have absolutely NO complaints.... well maybe one.. why does premium gas and race gas need to cost sOoOooo much??? cause I run a mix of 50/50 91-100
