We race Motocross and for winter practice endurance ice race. Two LTR450's have now come apart.
They starting jumping out of 4th gear. Once the dealers took the trany's apart forth gear was stripped, second and third didn't look great either. Both quads riden by didnt teams and dealerships, were riden moderatlty for breck in periods. Both had two to three oil changes before racing.

The racing is endurace ice racing one quad made 3 - 6 hour races and one 24 hour race, the other 4 - 6 hour races. Suzuki has the gears and are sending them foe metalurgy testing.

Thier first coments have been that both quads have different proplems,.

Ours has only two - 6 hour races on it and so far no proplems....but it has me concered. !!!!!

First impressions.....great quad nice feel, we modified a set of AC pro peg nerfs to fit, and it needs handle bars, exhaust, different tires new air filter and we like are Elka shocks and then she'll be ready for motocross.

Will the tranny hold ???

you said Suzuki took them for testing...are they going to cover the costs of repairs for you? And did they have any plans for what they will do if this a widespread issue? recalls? call ins? etc?

Thanks for the heads up guys!!

Thanks for the heads up on the tranny... Has anyone had any problems with corrosion because of the magnesium cover on their LTR's that the Z's have had in the past/present??? I have a Z400 as well but luckily it's an '03. I've heard the problem is because the '04s+ came with the magnesium cover. Since the LTR's also have a magnesium cover just wondering if anyone yet has seen an issue... I've heard that using a coolant that does not have any water will sidestep the problem but make the engine run a bit hotter. Engine Ice was said to virtually elliminate the issue. Is this true??? I also own an LTR and want to avoid any potential issues upfront.

Thanks! ! !
