Im just wondering if there is a need for aftermarket linkage on the LTR? I was thinking about sending my shocks off to GT Thunder and getting one of their links, but if the stock one is pretty good then i will stick with that. I know how much of a difference it made on my 450r, but i havent heard much regarding the rear ends on the LTRs. I would like to hear from someone who has tried out the walsh or GTT linkage and see if they think it was worth the cash.

I have run elkas for few yrs now. I called them when i bought my LTR to see what there opinion is about theres. Guess what, they elka dont have one. Reason being is the leverage ratio on the LTR is almost perfect as is. I know gt thunder make one now. But I had my shocks rebuilt by I-shock and they are wonderful with the stock linkage. I wouldnt waste the money on the Ltr linkage. just either get new shocks or rebuilt. I suggest rebuilt to save money, and this is coming from a expert/pro rider!

I totally agree. The benefit on the Honda was the leverage change. No need to here.

We have been soooo programmed -- "You must have aftermarket suspension". Just not true.
With the crap that came on the front of the 400ex... yes, of course. What did we want?
More travel, valved correctly and rebound and compression adjustments.

Get your shocks valved for YOU. I think all of the leverage ratios (a-arms and rear link) are spot on.

I have used both the Walsh Linkage and the stock linkage. These days we are fortunate enough to have ATVs that are good enough to run stock. So, basically, the Walsh linkage offers a different sort of ride compared to the stock link. The stock shock linkage spikes to be stiffer towards the end of the stroke, where the Walsh doesnt ramp up quite as much. The result you get is slightly less bucking on bottom out, and a little more controlled traction, and recovery upon landings

Sort of irrelevant for all but serious racers, but then again thats what Walsh is designed for. Hope this helps.
