i've been checking out "intakes" lately trying to find a difference in them. the 3 most common, pro flo, trinity, and mod quad, all look the same. anything more that just a bracket, with an o-ring, to hold on a filter? is there any difference between the three? i seen a few where it says the trinity looks better but IS it better? i also saw the homemade one aceltr made and as of right now i like his, but i need an airbox so i'd have to investigate on that.

I really don't think your gonna beat that Trinity set-up...besides the debate over the K&N that comes with it???The intake itself is still the best manufactured out there...so buy it and toss the K&N if you don't care for it...thats my 2 cents...

2 reasons...first it has a machined outlet on both the intake and the outlet which allows you to run it "stand alone" if you wanted to discard your air box...secondly the transition into the boot from the intake...it's a nice machined "vortex" for lack of a better word..(sorry..been up all night)...it allows the air to smoothly transition into the boot...which increases air velocity and makes more power....if you just have a "stepped up" piece of pipe...the air turbulates as it goes into the boot...so the smoother the transition?...the better air delivery and power...it's a quality product...here's some pics...

I ordered trinity and they sent me a raptor manifold instead. I called them and they said no biggie they will take care of it. I'm still happy with them, the raptor one looked awesome can't wait for my ltr one though. ;)

Trinity definitely has the best intake, but I went with Pro-Design because it came with the Extreme Filter. The Pro-Design billet also has a fair taper, so I think it will work good, especially with a modified air box. Here is a picture from Sweetquads, who has them for $139:

I THINK he means....... to install.

To install -- yes, remove the box.

and

You can use the box with both.

I put a pro flow on my ltr without removing the box. It was a pain though and would recommend removing it first.
