Well after waiting and waiting (3 months) for a Dana Creech Blingstar bumper to arrive I cancelled it and ordered an AC blackline bumper. So after a week and a half wait I get to my front door and surprise, a box with my new AC bumper is here. I pull it out of the box and sure as $hit the mini skid plate is welded off center. No way this is going to line up. I bring it in to the garage and yep it's not even close. I have finally come to my senses this year and now will not order this Aluma Crap anymore. Everything I have ever ordered from them has been second rate finish, and piss poor fit. Must be zero quality control! Well for now on I will spend more for the better quality fit & finish prodcts.

i do agree with you, i have had crap bumpers from them on my other bike but the rear bumpers have always been good for me. i have one on my ltr and it bolted up just fine, the only thing was it had a wide bracket for the light to be mounted lower, but i just grinded them off to make it thinner so the number plate can cover whats left of the bracket, looks great now.

I have a friend who is great welder (Had him weld my shock linkage cushion bracket) as he does it for a living, he also builds sand rail chasiss amongst other things. He only tig welds because it's stronger (takes longer to do) and he puts a better looking weld bead down. I think I may ask him to make me a bumper next time. He is just getting into ATV's and just shakes his head when he sees some of this stuff. He looked at the AC stuff and said "well you have to learn how to weld somewhere". :p Well I guess you get what you pay for!

They have some of the most non-informative instructions I have ever seen. I like them better than DG though.

I don't know much about AC myself besides some trouble a friend of mine had getting in some nerfs he ordered for his TRX (2 month wait). I went with the Rath nerfs myself. Only prob I had with them was the lack of instructions being in the box. Called them.... they scanned and emailed me the instructions.... *ding* nerfs installed. I also like having a netted heelguard verses a hard one. I got mine from Kyle at Cernics and he got me a great deal.

Check them out here......

actually, people mistake mig and tig welding. they are both strong its just the tig weld takes longer ot do becuase it looks like a factory weld.

i had with ac was my grab bar, that didnt line up. and a friend bought a couple pairs of nerfs that wouldnt fit.

for some reason the ac parts you have to bend and misshape to make them fit.

Agreed, both are strong but generally for different applications. This is a weld off an Aussie Competition ramp I built, you can get a MIG bead to look awesome if you have enough experience. TIG welding burns REALLY fast, alot harder than welding MIG

all right dumb question here...

but doesn't AC have a jig for their parts?

what excuse do they have for not having things line up?

take pieces of metal, clamp them in a jig, weld them... it's not rocket science...

are they just holding the parts together with one hand and welding with the other? wtf?

mxquad that is about as good a mig weld as you can get! nice job.

tig is awesome, obviously takes some skill but the results, wowzers...

Here's the problem with AC...yes they DO have a jig BUT...they pay their people piece work so when the guys ared one welding the parts (especially nerfs) they just pull the hot part out of the jig...so when the part cools down?..it warps...that and they don't return their phone calls...

With all the love he gives you'd think he was a support rider or something :p

Logical reasoning for bunked up parts though, not doubting you Junkie

I checked out their operation while I was down there trying to figure out just how in the heck those nerfs fit...I SWEAR on my life there was no way those things were going to fit just from the first glance...
Anyways they gave me a little tour and I was watching the guy pop those nerfs out...and since I have a background in metal works I knew right away what had happened :(

So then their engineer says to me "Come back in an hour and I'll have these on for you"...I said "Look...I'm the best sheet metal mechanic that I know and if your telling me these will fit? Then I gaurantee I'll make them fit"

You guys know the rest...

So bottom line is yea...they do let them warp as they cool down...kinda like a potato chip starts out flat?...then gets all warped when you cook it?...AC chips...
