I have bought, I don't know how many pairs of knee pads/guards and I have yet to find a set that I like until this week! I've tried evs, 661, fly, thor, and I just haven't been happy with any of them. here is what I found. I ordered them on Monday and got them in today. They are new for 07 from 661. They are called the Kyle Straight knee guards. They were actually designed by a BMX guy but I talked to 661 and they have sold quite a few sets to MX and Quad guys. The biggest problem that I was having is that I would litterally bruise the insides of my knees from cornering and clenching the quad with my legs. I always toughed it out but my knees would be sore almost all week. Anyway... I tried these on and they are VERY comfortable! They are low profile and have nice padding in them as well! The best part is that they only retail for $50 a pair!! I'm just excited about them and they are going to be the ticket to getting rid of my knee pains and wanted to share with you guys incase you have the same problems as me!

Here is a link to them:

I've been using the same yellow thor $20 plastic knee guards for years now and i finally invested in thor force knee guards, now us qud guys don't need as stiff pads but these aren't noticable when riding.

I've got a set of Asterisk and CTI2 braces w/ knee guards that both work extremely well but i perfer the CTI2s. They r a bit pricey though @ about $1800 a pair, insurance bought mine.

Got asterisks. Broke the left one in a wreck in June...Saved my leg but punctured my groin. The need to make a good brace that also has padding inside the knees. Although I like the asterisks for the protection from hyper/hypo extension, I still had the problems with bruising and rubbing the skin off the inside of my knees.

Funny you mention that, the only thing that kept me from buying a set was repetitive claims that they do not prevent hyper extension? Could VERY well be hear-say but it kept me from purchasing a pair :(

Opinions?

I have a CTI (carbon fiber) brace and it is just to bulky with hitting my boot. On quads you're just not planting your leg down through corners. So now that my leg is stronger I just wear a set of padded knee pads made by Moose and the are just what I needed to keep my knees from getting bruised. They are very comfortable and about forty bucks. The CTI's and Asteriks just don't have the padding and are just made to keep you from over extending. I were my CTI for when my wife makes me move the furniture  .

I rode Saturday and Sunday with these and they worked excellent! They are really comfortable and offer great padding on the inside of the leg/knee. I will continue to use these and see how durable they are... As of right now, they are by far my favorite.

I wear some underbrace sleeves to keep my brace from rubbing me too bad and went to the Shift Squadron to give me some more room for the braces. I wear them for laterial and axial support, which my knees lack but i do know for sure my CTI2s have extension stops. They were custom built and painted and fit and feel perfect.
