I realize this belongs in the wheels and tires section, but not as many peeps look there.

My dilema is this. I mounted a set of 4 MXR6s' on all 4 stock LTR rims, and can not for the life of me stop leaks at the beads. I have seen references to 'inflating the new tires too fast', but what the hell does that mean?
Anyone with tire experience, I could really use some help, I have a race this coming weekend and cant keep air in the tires for more than 15 minutes.

Oh yeah, get ready for a freakin nightmare if you are thinking about breaking the rear tire beads by yourself, they are super glued on ur sumpthin.

couple questions, how many psi are you using to seat the tires. are you using soap and water around the beads when seating them? do the beads "look" like they are seated? If there was some sort of adhesive on the stock wheels did you completely remove it? Let me know these questions will help with an answer.

All else fails, can of starter fluid or brake cleaner and a match will solve the bead mounting problems

Yep, did the soap and water on the rims, every tire did 'POP' onto the bead and seat, and they consistantly snapped onto the rim bead at about 25-30 psi. Then once they seated with that much air in them, they tend to hold air, but if I drop the pressure down to anything lower than 18psi, here comes the leaks. I am almost tempted to break the beads and run silicone around the inside edge, but my guess is that will just make other problems?

Oh I wouldn't do that my friend...I used to work at a tire shop when I was younger...thats a no no...sounds like ya got some hammered rims there...or like Duner said...something in there...

And I don't know where you guys live but my guy doesn't even charge me for mounting those...I just kick him $5 for lunch and he's happy...

Cuda...run over to Chaparrell..hell they mount paddles on motorcycles for $15...and that includes pulling the rear rim off the bike and re-installing it on the bike....so they CAN'T charge that much... :D

Thats EXACTLY why you take it to someone that mounts them for a living...whenever I have a leak I can't track down..I take it to someone who's a professional...

With the time you save tracking down those leaks?...You could have already rolled a fatty...

Now I am seeing the light, it was the lamest $20 I ever saved! I think I got it under controll now, I emailed ITP and they said to run a bead of silicone around the inside edge of the rim before you air up and set the bead. So far this has worked, hope it lasts a full race though!
And oh yeah, I may make the occasional comment or 2 or 3 about the Canibus, Reefer, Pot, Dope, etc., but I gave up smoking a while ago due to adult onset paranoia(You lookin at me? Did I pay the taxes?Wheres my wallet?), getting old sux!!!
