Well I heard the whine...on my first really hard ride. Dustin took the quad around a couple laps and never left 2nd gear....after that i ran a couple laps and when i downshifted to leave the track.. i heard the whine...it really only sounded like that in 2nd gear.... sounds like 2nd gear just got hot because a certain someone had it in that gear for 2 whole laps...should this be a big worry?

Nope. Mine has whined since the second week I've had it. It won't always whine. It did it once yesterday while I was practicing on my own practice track which is mainly a 2nd and 3rd gear track. Other than that it has been a while since the last time before yesterday. Good luck with it!

I'm personally suggesting EVERYONE picks up the extended warranty if possible just in case anything does happen. Now, the majority of people have yet to have anything result from the whine - but enough people are having problems to where my paranoa kicks in.

I remember Jake (Janacek) mentioning the 5th gear bushing thing...I'm not sure we have a concrete explanation to this yet.

Personally, I'd be purchasing the extended warrany and leaving it at that for now

Ohh...the broken case issue...this was posted up here a few days ago:

Haven't heard any reviews on it yet

Well I wish I just had the tranny whine, however I got the tranny grenade instead. Its completely locked up. I was riding and it dropped in to neutral, and wouldn't go into gear. I finally got it into first, got back to the truck and it just locked up when I went to shift to second. The gear shifter will not move and neither will the tires. I don't know what the hell happend, but it sucks!

I know everyone has been saying go with the 20w-50, which is probably helping, but I, personally can't atest to it. I've been using Rotella 10w-50 and adding between 100-200 cc of Lucas oil additive. The whine is almost completely gone, but to the person that rides it, you can still notice a certain noise in lower gears. So it kinda just went from a screeching whine to a melodic hymn....

I don't know what the tranny whine is, but there is a deffinant problem with the transmission. I got from a dealer today that there is likely going to be a recall. It has to do with 4th and 5th gear not having a bushing on the drive shaft. If there is any interuption of oil flow, don't ask me how that would happen, the gears are welding themselves to the drive shaft. I ALWAYS check and change my oil, probably more that needed, and it still happened to me. Don't get me wrong I am not complaining about the ltr, I love it, but I think that something needs to be done.

I hope for the best for everyone. Tranny failures SUCK. And I should know. I was never given info on updated parts. HMMMM....maybe there will be a recall.

On another note, does anyone remember when the new Suzuki 700 EFI KingQuads were having reverse gear issues? Did you hear what the culprit was????? Thats right, the reverse idler gear DID NOT have a bushing or bearing. For the next year, the gear was supplied with a roller needle bearing!!!!! DEEEE-DE-DEEEEE!!!!!!! Come on Suzuki pull your head out of your ASS!!!!

Kara, Dont worry to much about the tranny whine, mine has done it since day one and I change the oil (Amsoil 0-40) every other practice/race. Travis's bike never did whine however he broke the shifter peg on the case and it is still in the shop! going on 55 days now! Suzuki has had these cases and bearing on back order for way to long. We got the parts finally and should be back in action this weekend but be carefull on that shifter, I am thinking about getting the item from BCS performance.
