do you guys think that heel guards are really necessary? The nerfs with no heel guards or foot pegs are about 125$ cheaper, so im thinking of just buying those. The ac propegs with the heelguards sure are nice, just dont feel like spending that much money. I can get the ac regular nerfs just 130$ or the propegs with nerfs for about 250. I dont race, but all I ride is track, with the occasional trail ride. Think these regular nerfs will be alright, or should I invest more money and get the propegs with nerfs?

I would never race or even ride without some kind of heel guard, I've seen people snap ankles or get their foot caught under their rear tire.

I was actually talking about getting nerf bars without heel guards. Theres no way Im using the stock heel guards, those thing are huge/ugly. Maybe I better save up some more and get the ac pro pegs with heel guards then?

I will keep my stock heelguards for awhile but i'm going to trim them a bit and see what happens from there. The thing i like about the LTR is the rear plastic doesn't come down as far as the YFZ, so now the heel guards get rubbed from my boots and not my shiny plastic.

I was thinking of doing the same but wanted to know what it would look like before I tried it. Could you post some pics of it when you finish? I've seen a guys bike that had the heel guards taken off completely in the other forum and it looks nice. He just had to make a hanger/support so the plastics didn't go gumby on his a$$. As for the heel guard on the nerfs, glad to see you got them, have had to take 2 friends to the hospital after rapping their legs in the rear wheels...ugly.
