Has anyone else had there stock air filter rip? I've found atleast 6 holes on the end and a few tears, now a inch section along the plastic cage is gone, so now some of the cage is touching the airfilter box. I just think Suzuki didn't test long enough or check their filters, cause i've changed filter for awhile now and this is the first time this has happened.

I've not had any problem. I clean mine every time I get home from a ride. I use gasoline to clean it and then Belray air filter oil to lube it and Marine grease to seal it at the box.

Are you possibly putting it back on dry at the base? Without grease at the base, you will not only have a bad seal but might cause it to wear down a bit more.

I ruined two stock filters, and never had a problem with any other bike. Stock filters are weak on the LTR. I went with twin Air.

If i was you i would buy a Uni air filter. They work great and hold up for a long time. K&N's are nice but they don't trap as much dirt as the foam Uni does. In my experience i've seen 4 engines seize due to failure of there air filter 3 of them had K&N's the other one was a stock one. I've ran Uni all my life and my friends switched over to them about 2 years ago and they work awesome.
