I had my quad at the dealer for the first service and got talking with service manager guy. Great to deal with and he's the sponsering dealer of one of canada's team suzuki riders. Anyways long story short, he also ice races the LTR and was laughing because of the reports of how "slow" the LTR is compared to the yamaha and honda. The dealer is a suzuki, yamaha dealer so he's also raced the yfz and said the ltr had no problems smoking it. However, they dicked around with the fuel mapping and said they got a tonne of power out of it. Next service he said he'll turn some dials for me and the thing will be an animal. (I've got the normal peashooter gone, airbox lid and cherrybomb).

When I asked what they'd do he wouldn't tell me. The only thing he'd say is that it's a team suzuki racing secret. lol Any ideas what they can do without strapping on a full-time fuel management box? Has anyone elses dealer told them about this??

Oh he also said he's been racing for like 10 years and the first time racing the ltr it was so fast he actually puked after the race. lol So this thing might be a little slower stock, but made extremely fast very, very cheaply and easily. Let's hear it for Suzuki!

Sorry don't have a Suzuki dealer, so i guess i'll have to live without a little boost. Also i don't know why the magazines that tested the three 450's didn't take off the airbox lids and remove the spark arrestors, then they all would still be stock, and have all free mods done.

When the nats were here at Budds Creek Team Suzuki was telling people to come over to thier trailer because the guy that was on a stock ATK in the stock class was walking away from the LTs. after they went to the trailers he couldn't pull away from them any more. I don't know what they did but they do have a secret they aren't releasing

wish my dealer would tell me about these secrets. Not saying my ltr is slow, but hopefully when I pull the pea shooter, remove the lid and add my cherrybomb(should be here anyday now) it will really wake it up!!

ah... team secret eh? well i can only speculate at what they do, but i guess its time to start probing and make sure everything is opperating to the best of its ability or if they leave something "governed" from the factory. my best guess would have to be an ecu reflash, but ill see what i can dig up.

p.s. nothing is ever secret in the world of racing... somebody out there knows and is willing to tell, you just gotta find that person ;)

Has anyone pulled the cover off of the stock fuel injection box? It looks like it just snaps on. Maybe the "dials" or whatever they are changing is under that cover. I am at work right now, but when I get home I will check it out and let you guys know what I find.

No dice on the FI box cover. It is an injection molded box and is completely sealed. The only way in is to break it open. I did poke around under the hood while I was there and found some weird stuff. On the back side of the frame crossbar that all of the engine controls bolt onto is a plug similar to the cherry bomb plug. When I pulled it off of the rubber anti-vibe grommet that holds it down, it sounds like it is full of BB's or something. It rattles like a baby toy. I didn't see much use for it myself, but then again I'm not the engineer. If I ever get a day off, I plan to remove all of the plastic and see if there is anything "hidden" in there somewhere.

It's not ever yet, Junkie. I don't give up and I don't take no for an answer. I just need time to dig a little. I work 10-12 hours a day, and most weekends, so its kinda hard to find the time to do what I want. Patience.

it may just be timing by adjusting the cam or crank agle sensor if and where ever its located on this motor.

See in a EFI engine the computer has to know where the crack or cams are located in the stroke to know when to send fuel and ignite it. A simple move would be to bump up the base timing.
