Does anyone have an idea of how long (kilometers/miles or hours) you can make it on a tank of fuel under average trail riding conditions. So far I've probably only ventured out on a 25-30 km ride, and still have had plenty of fuel. I mainly ride in the mountains where there are alot of trails, and not alot of people. Once I get my LTR broke-in I planning on some longer rides. Running out of gas would result in one very long walk.

It would be cool if we were able to manipulate the fuel light so that when a half of tank was reached the light came on, therefor telling us we can make almost the equal distance back.

That would be nice, do you know when the light comes on now. I think its at a quarter tank, but I'm not sure.

I don't worry too much about fuel. If you have z400's, 400ex's, yfz's, etc, with ya, you will all be getting low at the same time. They are all around 2.6 gal. and will all use approx. the same amount of fuel so I don't ever get very excited........ 450R's are different though(huge dinosaur tanks :p )

i took mine out trail riding the other day. i rode pretty easy keeping about a 40-50mph pace and i rode 70 miles before the low fuel light came on. actually just as soon as i pulled into a gas station it came on. so when i filled it i only put 1.8 gallons in it. so depending on the trails your good for at least 70 miles before getting excited about looking for a gas station.

I wish somebody would start making a cross country tank. Around 4.0 gallons would be excellent. Especially for the rides I go on. :)

i dont know if this sounds like a stupid idea. There is a sensor in the tank right? And theres got to be a float or somthing in there that turns on the light when it gets low. Couldnt you just bend the float or find a way of extending it higher so it comes on earlier?

i figure when i ride hard n the light comes on then its about ten minutes back to my house seems to be about a gallon an hour. then when i went to the gas station it took 2.2 gallons to fill. i would figure out a way to carry a gallon or more of gas n ride till ya was out or when the gas light came on and if the light comes on a safe estimate would 25% of the distance you already traveled seeems to be about a half gallon in the tank when the light comes on, your buddies could carry your gas or a sixpack rack or something. sorry for the long post. hope it helps.

Well it has the same as the YFZ. I just rode for about 5 hours on my mx track and it was gone, so atleast it lasts awhile.

I did some fuel mileage testing before a resent desert race i did. I put 1L in it and held it tapped in top gear for a worst case senario and got 7.4kms out of it therefor 10L give you at least 74km tapped in the desert. For trail riding i'd say you would get well over a 100kms. Don't trust the light it's only a guide. The float bounces around everywhere in the tank and give faulse readings
