Front brakes stopped working, need advice

2067 Views 6 Replies 6 Participants Last post by  JoeyLTR
Was trail riding yesterday and halfway threw I pulled the front brake lever and it pulled right to the grip with no resistance. The fluid level indicator above the brake lever shows full still but they do not work. Any advice on where to start and what to look for would be greatly appreciated.

hmmm no leaks ,no brakes its probably the master cylinder
I also suspect the Master Cylinder but its worth a shot to re bleed them. My YFZ had the same issue with the rear brake, i would bleed it and get it to work properly and after about 3 or 4 hours the rear brake was useless until i bled it again. I never swapped out the rear master to try and fix it but it was the only thing it could have been.
Maybe bent rotor, they would work when still but not when moving??
i bent the brake caliper mount and it caused that
Mine was wheel bearing... had one go and while racing I was having to pump it 2 times before getting the piston to come back out.
Thanks for the advice everyone. It was the master cyclinder. Had to get a rebuild kit and she's back to working great.
