I bought some FUELATV clamps and some Pro Taper bars, but I'm having a hard time installing them. How does the idle lever (I think thats what its called) come off and do I need to drill a hole in the new bars for the tab on the black blob to fit into? I know some are going to say "remove the blob" but I need to keep my lights. I'm sure if I knew how to wire it up I could get rid of the blob and still have the light switch, but until that happens I need to keep it.

Thanks for any input.

1. "Idle lever" unscrew all screws, pull off rubber boot around "idle lever". You will need to remove old hand grip on left side.

2. You don't need to drill any holes to remount the blob on the aftermarket bars.

I'm putting those lights in the plastics, I was talking about my headlight switch and starter.

Okay, I guess I wasn't pulling hard enough on the rubber boot because I wasn't sure thats what I had to do.

Do I just cut the tab/pin off the blob when I install it on the new bars? It looks like it's there to stop it from spinning on the bars.

You dont have to cut anything. They to parts will separate from eachother after you remove all screws and rubber boot.

I'm confusing you because I don't know the proper terms. I took the two screws out, but the blob wouldn't come off because the rubber boot on the idle adj. was holding it up (I now know that...thanks). I went to put in back together until I could get more info, but it wouldn't go together unless the tab on the inside of the blob was lined up with the hole on the stock bars. Once I get the new bars on there, the only way to have it sit flush would be to cut off the tab or drill a hole in the bars for the tab to fit in.

I hope this makes more sense.

I understand. You should not have to cut anything. Its a smooth fit when it all lines up. There should be no holes or cuts im the bars or the blob.

I'll look again tomorrow. I do know that my stock bars have a pin hole in them thats about an 1/8" diameter and the blob has a little tab that fits into that. I'll get a better look at it tomorrow.
