Not sure where to post this so you guys can move it if you feel like it...

Just a little trick for those of us that have moved our warning lights from the dash to the tank area...If you ahve done this you will notice that the light "tubes" are just a tad too long for the lights to sit flush..not enough to notice if you don't point them out? But still drives me crazy...sooo...I grabbed a warning light wiring loom from a LTZ and used that instead of the stock LTR one...you can see in the picture below that the "tubes" take a 90 and fit real nice between the fuel tank and the new location of the lights...

My lights now sit nice and flush... :D Finally I can sleep at night...

The wiring plug is identical so the new loom snaps right in...the wiring is different colors so I wrote them down below for any who want to try this...

LTR450 wiring loom
Fuel light = blk/yel
Neutral light = blk/blu
FI/Wht = blk/red

LTZ400 wiring loom
Fuel light = blu/red
Neutral light = blu/blk
FI/Wht = blu/wht

I was able to use original boots but those are probably easier to manage.

Does anyone know if you can get the light loom for the LTZ from the dealer? or do you have to get it used somewhere?

can you all post pics. of where you relocated your indicator lights. and what you used to get the hole that size. Like what size drill bit if that is what you used.

Here ya go...

The holes are more egg shaped...if you pull your light cluster you will see the cut out better. Most of us used a Dremel tool with a small cutting tip and then the larger polishing tip to finish it out. I would suggest getting one before you attempt this...

Hope this helps...

Oh yea...It also helps is you have someone that has a LTZ/KFX 400 and you do a light modification to theirs at the same time...

You really need the LTR harness for that conversion...so the both of you could swap and it would be a beautiful thing.... :D

And thats how I got the harness...and now you know... :D

Hey smarty pants i know where you live :p

Isn't that the one I was supposed to pick up when I was down there :)

Maybe I will wait till I get there and we can do the light mod, stem, and handle bars all in a couple hours before we head out to the dunes :scoot:
