well I went riding for the first time on my new ltr. I went riding for 2 days and the whole time I was riding, the fan never came on once. I was just breaking the motor in, but I still rode pretty hard. I did about 8 laps, then let it cool down for 5-10 minutes, then did another 8 or so laps, the whole time I was there. Maybe I just didnt ride it long enough for the fan to come on, but I know that my brother rode the exact same time as I did, and his kfx400's fan came on quite a bit throughout the 2 days. Maybe im just alittle paranoid because Its my brand new machine, but I dont want my fan not to be working, causing it to overheat. Thanks a lot and lets here some replies.

mine has already went bad and i have had mine for about a month. before it quit all together it was surging in speed. i finally noticed it quit when the temp light came on and the fan wasn't running so i made a dash to the garden hose and left it running and let the cool water cool the radiator and antifreeze down until the light shut off. good news is it is covered on the warranty and it should be in tomorrow. so to sum it up i would worry when the temp light comes on and the fan still isnt running and find a way to get it cooled back down as quick as possible.

my temperature light also never came on once...Im guessing I just let it cool down lots after every 8 or so laps. At least you got it covered under warranty! Man I am finding that these motors get HOT! as soon as I start it, the engine is soo damn hot, my brothers kfx400 isnt nearly as hot, I guess thats why its so fast. :D :D

My only concern would be this: Is the quad actually hot and the temp sensor isn't working properly? If this is true doesn't the same thing monitors temp for the fan also monitor temp for the light? They come on at different temps but is there one sensor in common? When we had the Cannondale we had a separate temp sensor with an LED readout to monitor engine temp in case there was a problem with the info going to the ECU.

well the ltr seems to run really hot all the time, even as soon as I turn it on. So im not sure if its TOO hot or not...not used to my machine getting this hot(used to have a banshee and a kfx400) Im thinking everything is fine, I was just wondering. This weekend Im going to run it real hard, see if I can get the temp. light to go on (just to make sure its actually working) Im done breaking the motor in, so it should be all fine. Thanks a lot for all the replies, I will check back with you guys after this weekend and tell you what happened with it.

yea I think they all do that....when you turn the key to the ON position, nothing happens, but as soon as you turn the run switch to the RUN postition, all three lights come on for about 2 or 3 seconds. That is normal.
