While dyno'ing my bike at Rage ATV, we found an extra 1.5HP on the dyno by removing the seat. Of course i had the air box lid removed. Max HP at the rear wheels was 46.5. If able, you may pick up a few ponies by drilling some holes in your box.

I've heard that every 7 pounds you take off your quad, it equals 1 horsepower so.

Thats great ...... Dan is doing the same test. So how did you guys mod the air box to get that extra 1.5 hp?

He could always put something under the seat to lift it up alittle bit. Or u can just drill some holes or cut off part of the air box.

How would that run with just a CB? The CB was built with the intention of just having the lid off with no spark or a pipe upgrade right? Do you think that with the extra airflow, we'll have to get a powercommander (or whatever kind you'd prefer) to even the AF ratio? I'm planning on making the switch soon anyways, but I'd like to do the upgrade like 5 minutes ago if it works with the CB.

I am pretty sure that modding the air box in any way other then just removing the lid with just a cherry bomb will resualt in the bike running lean.

The A/F ratio was spot on according to the sniffer on the dyno. I am not too worried about the extra HP, I am worried about the dusty conditions I ride in. I'd rather have peace of mind than that extra kick.

Fuel is correct. Everyone I have talked to (Trinity, Power Commander, etc) all say that the maps are written for exactly what is specified. Once you change something...you change everything I guess...so their advice was to fatten it up if you increase the airflow at all...regardless of the CRBM, PIM, PowerCommander...they all need to be fattened up a little. Least thats what they told me :p

I am running the LRD proR4 full system on my LTR and it is great I have the CRBM and no airbox lid. I have the outerwears lid on it. seems to do fine. lots of power. I spoke with arlen lehman of LRD before installing the pipe and he said that I would be fine with it. I was at dunefest with the bike and another one owned by LRD and rode theirs witch will be in dirtwheels comming soon, they felt fine, lots more power than the yoshi rs-5 that I took off. No runablity issuses.
